Kid Machine – Space Elite [RL020]

Red Laser presents a unique double gatefold LP from Red Laser original Kid Machine. He delivers a 5 star upgrade to the signature sound that people worldwide have fallen in love with. 808 kicks and DX 7 licks bubble under the atmospheric chord changes creating a soundtrack which is just as comfortable on the dance floor as it is on a midnight drive. Alien Dance darts around to irregular delight. The dramatic score of Asteroids builds until it soars high above the grid. The bassline on Beast drills a blackened dance floor in preparation to be replaced with 80’s discotheque neon squares. Beyond Cygnus takes flight and drifts across a Martian plane. The 808 kicks and orchestral synth stabs of Conquest crush all known reality into a space the size of a photon and the weight of its gravity is unbeatable. Standing out amongst the pack is the apply titled ‘Forever Machine’. A proper Manctalo synth anthem guaranteed to deliver speaker destruction. The LP closes with classic Machine style bangers ‘Flight Manoeuvres’ and ‘Seconds From Oblivion’. They bring this galactic odyssey to a confident end. This is a cracking journey through the outer rim and back.

Dubmasters – 12 Bar Disco [COS002]

Dubmasters come back strong on their second release on our catalog, with a heavily road tested banger. 12 Bar Disco is a caleidoscope of surfed out guitar riffs, dubby chops and vintage pads over a funky 90’s Manchester synth bassline, that has proven to shake dance floors around the globe. For this E.P. the original is taken on a slight dubbed out deviation with tape delays taking the foreground on the mix, cosmic pads and extended psychedelic breakdown, definitely a monster. Remixes by Phunktastike and Ilya Santana.

Kalbata – Al Shark [FTN007]

Fortuna Co-Founder Kalbata takes the controls for this new, Middle Eastern techno banger. Al-Shark is a banging Arab Farfisa excursion played frantically on an analog techno rhythm section. It’s the first release from the Fortuna camp which is not a reissue, but worry not, this could easily be an ancient Lebanese proto-House experiment unearthed from a dusty reel. For the B-side Kalbata takes things even further with a tribal relick of the original, placing us in a voodoo ceremony where ghosts of sinners come to dance.

Ron Trent – Boogie Down [MAP005]

Ron Trent brings back the ”Dance Floor Boogie Delites” tag for 2 tasty cuts featuring similar flavors to previous releases on Prescription and Future Vision. The artwork is appropriate as ”Boogie Down” will make you want to break out your rollerskates and ”In The Light” is a nod to early Prince. Out on Ron’s own Music and Power imprint.

A Band Called Flash – S/T [FVW003]

Created by the inspired young Jared Hines and produced by master minds Ron Trent and Jonecy, this self titled follow up to ”Mother Confessor” features four etherial, lush tracks that have a live feel and are equally heavenly. Inspired by the Jazz Funk elements of UK outfit Atmosfear and the alternative Disco sounds of Dinosaur L, presented here, A Band Called Flash embrace the energy of “live” dance music. Reminiscent of the early 80’s Boogie sound, A Band Called Flash will surely capture the attention of the more eclectic, global dance floor.

Benedikt Frey – Out Of Here Remixes [HVN036]

Benedikt Frey’s Out Of Here gets a fresh new treatment in the hands of two mainstays of European techno: Roman Flugel and Simon Haydo. Flugel’s Cosmic Disco Drama Rework lives up to its name, maintaining the noir disco spirit of the original track but infusing it with tension-building sequences and strings that give it an extra mischievous twist. He also straightens the rhythmic skeleton and adds shuffling shakers to make it a relentless dancefloor weapon. Haydo’s remix delves into a more dismal terrain, transforming the vocals into haunted echoes, adding esoteric synths and topping it all with razor-sharp percussion in what sounds like a storm of ice asteroids falling into a lake of steel.

Jago – I’m Going To Go [DE133]

cs622941-01a-med

Jago was the studio project of Michele Violante created in Milan, Italy in 1983. The line-up also included Luciana Cirrillo aka Kynsha, who wrote lyrics and sang back up vocals. The name Jago comes from Iago, the main antagonist in Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’. In those years, Michele produced a lot of songs and published material for Full Time Records. “I’m Going To Go” was recorded at Forum Studio in Rome in 1983 and released on Full Time the same year. He made an electro-funk demo with a Gibson Les Paul, but during practice the song became soulful funk but arranged with new wave electronics. The song revolves around a slick atmospheric bassline, driving electronic percussion, and tight rhythm guitar and synths. The setup for the recording was a Casiotone MT-40 keyboard, Boss DR-55 and Sequential Circuits Drumtraks drum machines, an Akai cassette recorder, and a Revox A77 for multi-tracking. Lead vocals were done by session musician Bruno Kassar, delivering Kynsha’s playful lyrics along to the lead melody. Also on the A-side is the Instrumental Version which became a hit in New York after Larry Levan played it repeatedly at the Paradise Garage. Full Time asked Levan’s long time friend Frankie Knuckles to make a remix. It was released in 1985 as the “Plant Mix”, and is included here on the B-side. This was Frankie’s first released remix, although the record label misspelled his name as ’Frankye’. The remix clocks in at over 8 minutes, and is a dub edit made using the stereo master of the instrumental track.

Skatebård – Forgotten Woods EP [VIVOD012]

New EP from Skatebård on Vivod. A mixed bag from the prolific Norwegian producer showing us why he’s still at the top of his game. “Maskindans” kicks things off with some speak & spell funk followed by “Hissige Helger”, a brooding Chicago style banger sure to tear up some discoteques across the planet. On the flip are “Langbolgen” and Gloymde Skogar. The former is an acid style work out, the latter is more of a subtle, hypnotyizing opus. All very strong tracks.
