Das Ding – Why Is My Life So Boring? LP [EE001RTM]

Debut release for Electronic Emergencies hailing from Rotterdam. They present their first release, a new album of Dutch cold wave legend Das Ding: Why Is My Life So Boring? It’s a brand new 10-track album, which sounds crisp and young in the club and mature when you play it at home. Das Ding has always had that certain thing; strict and detached beats combined with warm melancholic melodies, emotionally distant and intense at the same time. The sound is clearly analogue and very specific since Danny Bosten rebuilds his vintage synths and builds his own sequencers and modular systems.

The Rattler Proxy – Death Machine [LURID002]

The Rattler Proxy, a sonic duo from Athens, release their second single featuring two original songs – ”Company of Wolves” and ”Death Machine” – along with two remixes of the latter by Antoni Maiovvi and Jokers Of The Scene. The Rattler Proxy explore the realm of urban alienation through intense and claustrophobic soundscapes. Often swapping their pulsating electronic crawl, for digital rockabilly-esque freak-outs, theirs is a world of back alleys and gang laden imagery, a rhythmic decent into a hellish, concrete landscape.

Prostitutes – Ecstasy, Crashing Beats and Fantasy [DIAG015]

There’s a tongue in cheek sensibility and an air of confrontation to much that James Donadio does as Prostitutes which made him more than suited to Diagonal label when the Cleveland artist debuted on the label last year. The curdling acid of “Dollars To DMs” and the faltering bleep electro of “Side Effects Of Living” are particularly potent Prostitutes productions.

Pye Corner Audio – The Black Mist EP [FANDF031]

Pye Corner Audio expands on ‘Black Mist’, taken from ‘The Outer Church’ compilation released by Front & Follow, now backed with new track and a blown-out Old Apparatus remix. The dramatic original is given time and space to let that Dr. Who-style bass riff and soaring synth to take flight across the A-side, whilst the flip brings the funereal slow techno processional, ‘Bulk Erase’, into play beside a roiling, radiant render from Old Apparatus, who also fold in oriental field recordings to abstract and exotic effect.

Anthony Rother – Balkonien [SSPS001]

Dutch label Shipwrec present their next release – a special one-sided pressing – by revered electro specialist Anthony Rother. A pure dancefloor fire that is part techno, part electro. ‘Balkonien’ is a broody affair from the off, with a supple, rubbery bed of kicks down low and a molten synth line up top. As things unfold, a nebulous network of celestial pads spiral about, the drums bounce more and lots of sinewy machine lines dance about and have you doing the same.

Val_Ex – Riot [SOM030LP]

Solar One Music present a very special project. Arne Weinberg (Valanx) and Robert Witschakowski (The Exaltics) join forces as “Val_Ex” and present their first album. Dark and deep tracks are featured on both sides of this album, the intention and atmosphere is undeniably pure darkness. The common goal of achieving this is audible each second of this record. The music ranges from ambient to electro, industrial and electronica.

The clandestine Black Narcissus project from Rephlex artist Jodey Kendrick has gone on to find a welcome home in WeMe Records. VA – Uncanny Vacation [UVAC001]

Uncanny Valley and Permanent Vacation are joining forces for an Uncanny Vacation! There has always been a lively exchange between Dresden and Munich and both labels are known for releasing a wide variety of music so it was only natural to team up for a joint release. The record starts off with Permanent Vacation-regular and UK-veteran DMX Krew and his “Astro Logical” which is as sharp and crisp as Electro can go. The bass line strikes hard but he also squeezes some great melancholic synth lines out of his machines. After that, Uncanny Valley’s Sandrow M finally gives access to the much in demand live version of “Prayervan”, a tune that everybody has been singing along during his live sets. On the flipside, Jacob Korn hands in “Eieiei” which rises on a percussion-heavy drum basement to a discoid House stomper thanks to an irresistible sample straight from an obscure flea market find. Drvg Cvltvre delivers a tropical House jam. “See You Again” is riding on a funky Disco bass line and creates a warm and cosy atmosphere with a whole bag of sound ideas.

Void Vision – Sub Rosa [MNQ054]

Void Vision is a Philadelphia-based electronic project helmed by Shari Wallin. It began around 2009 at a time when a wave of synth-revivalists were materializing, but the quality of the songwriting and intense vocals set the band apart from the pack. In a rare instance, Void Vision has managed to combine vintage dance elements with melodic structures, haunting melancholy, and lyrics that have a palpable soul. The songs themselves are dynamic, referencing a cross-section of the last 30 years of electronic music, while simultaneously retaining a uniqueness all their own.

4M International – Space Operator [PM12006]

Spaced out disco electro. The mysteriously named 4M International was a side project of the production team behind short lived Italo group Trilogy (”Not Love”, ”Black Devil” etc). ”Space Operator” is the only record the outfit recorded and is an ultra spacey, pitched down, cosmic anthem based around fellow Italian band Traks’ ”Drums Power” record, taking the rhythm track and adding a wealth of killer sound FX, synth washes and sinister vocoded voices inviting us to join them in some intergalactic space travel. Released in 1982 on Full Time records off-shoot Good Vibes.

UBRE BLANCA - Terminal Island

Ubre Blanca return with their second release for Clan Destine. Continuing with their obsessions of 70’s and 80’s horror and B movie soundtracks, fat synth sounds and live drums, Joel Stone and Andy Brown bring us a more evolved sound with the Terminal Island EP. A heady mix of full on synth and live drums, mixed with some more atmospheric pieces this time around. Terminal Island takes us straight to some tropical island where some horrifying shit is going down. Bringing to mind old cinematic masterpieces like Cannibal Holocaust mixed with Miami Vice.

Kid Machine – Red Planet EP [RL013]

Four tracks of atom crushing slo-mo disco darkness, creating hazy semi real dreams of isolation and paranoia on the red planets vast emptiness. The first track alone ‘Invasion’ is a dance floor soundsmash to rival any recent disco chug. The story continues with the quicker pace and acerbic tones of ‘Rulers of the Red Planet’. ‘Martian Emotion’ drifts more towards ‘beautiful space ballad’ and finally the grand finale to the story of this EP is the dark and foreboding John Carpenteresque ‘Last Day On Mars’. The track completes a journey in sound so well accomplished it will have you feeling like you just watched a 3 hour sci-fi epic inside your mind.

The Hunt – Revengers Of The Darkness [GD007]

Stylishly blending a powerhouse mix of EBM Machismo, New Beat Sleaze and Space Disco’s hot synth solos, ‘Revengers Of The Darkness’ throbs like a robot post-the singularity on a quest for alien sewer sex. Giallo Disco are more than honored to present the debut EP from this fantastic group. Five cinematic dancefloor bombs for the discerning listener.
