Jellphonic ft. Zacky Force Funk – 100 Snakes [CCrown01]

Clone Records

Clone has always been a deliciously on-point label, reminding us not only of what we should have listened to first time round via their unparalleled reissues, but also of what we might just be listening to next. I know next to nothing about Clone Crown Limited’s raison d’être, but on the evidence of this release, they are intent on slowing down the BPMs and ratcheting up the funk.

Conforce – Machine Conspiracy [MEAN020CD]

Conforce, aka Dutch techno producer Boris Bunnik, will release his debut album next month on Meanwhile. Entitled Machine Conspiracy, the album continues in the same vein as Conforce’s recent releases on Meanwhile and Modelisme, focusing on a bright and buoyant dub techno vibe. The album was recorded mostly in his bedroom in Leeuwarden, with two tracks originating on the Island of Terschelling, an isolated Dutch isle where Bunnik grew up, which is pictured on the album’s cover. Aside from “Love-Hate” and “Stop Hold,” which appeared on last month’s Love & Hate EP, all the tracks on Machine Conspiracy are previously unreleased.

After weeks of hard work here is my new EP for the Italo Disco lovers!
Looking at Saturn with those unique rings I always thought it´s a planet trapped in itself. Sometimes I feel myself like Saturn…, trapped in my own musical influences. My father’s fault!.. those records of Moroder!…

Entro Senestre – La Caccia [WT03]

disc

Analog is in. If ever there was a consensus across lines in dance music it is this new religion of the raw. Every week a new storm of analog based productions is unleashed, records giving loyal salute to the forefathers of house and techno, whether it be the jacking sound of early Chicago, the alien visions of Detroit’s finest moments, the captivating trance of Basic Channel or the innovative deep house explorations of NY and well beyond. This much is certain: our gaze is focused backwards. But does this fascination have the integrity to turn forward again with the revisiting of these anachronistic methods, to employ the time-tested warmth & inherent funk of old-school studio gear and update it’s use to realize the potentials of latter day electronic music?
With W.T. Record’s latest release from totally unknown newcomer Entro Senestre, we find a definite answer in the affirmative. “La Caccia,” the title track from this innovative new E.P., redefines & repositions the relentless repetitive insistence of early house & techno, imparting it with a definitely haunting, post-apocalyptic vision of four-to-the-flour experimental reiteration. Favoring the simplicity of direct expression over intricate over-production, “La Caccia” demolishes its way through 3 decades of dance music & continues trudging forward undeterred, creating a new classic of ancient means without relying on the base “minimalism” of early dance music, refusing to sell itself short with the dogma of “rawness” that has encouraged much inane gimmickry. With the impeccable application of Senestre’s muddy, moody chords, simple-yet-devastatingly-effective percussion, and sheer momentum-building, “La Caccia” (re)convinces us that there are still ancient secrets of yore,  beautiful mysteries hidden amongst the dying rubble of the past that can be re-animated, revived & retuned to deliver a stunning blow of exceptional creativity & direct visceral appeal that sets this breathtaking work above the rest.

Mark Du Mosch – Cold Sweat EP [CD006]

Rotterdam’s legendary disco-house producer Mark Du Mosch presents his debut release for Cyber Dance Records in the shape of the Cold Sweat EP. Consisting of five outstanding tracks that take us from the near-italo disco bliss of Now Or Never to the classic Dutch lo-fi electro sounds of Revenger, on to the searing intensity of The System and the title track then rounded off beautifully with the deep chi-house vibes of Satical, this is not an EP to be missed. Already getting rotation plays on Intergalactic FM and called by Moustache label impresario David Vunk “one of the best techno records of the year”, we can’t speak highly enough of this totally rocking record.

Ben Rymer – La Trinciatrice [ARCO13]

disc

Serge Santiago’s Arcobaleno imprint ends 2009 with an excellent Italo inspired EP from Ben Rymer. Ben is ex of The Fat Truckers – you remember, they’re the Sheffield-based Brit electroclash band who wrote tracks about cheap motorbikes, import-export business and multiplex cinemas. He was also part of Gucci Soundsystem, who have released tunes on Bugged Out and DFA and who promoted the now legendary London club-night Druzzis. Most recently, Rymer has joined the Disco Bloodbath crew, London’s finest connoisseurs of only the best cosmic, disco music, and set up the Channel 83 imprint with fellow Bloodbather Damon Martin. Meanwhile, on this 12″ we have the “La Trinciarice” (meaning ‘The Shredder’). The ‘Main Mix’ is an epic, heavy yet cosmic journey into space. The ‘Dream Dub’ is a floating dream sequence with mid-way battle and an ending that slowly floats off…

$tinkworx live @ Public Assembly 12/10/09

$tinkworx, a.k.a. JT Stewart, grew up in rural upstate New York in the Albany area. Being the son of an infamous record collector; Mike Stewart (to this day operating one of the highest regarded rare record shops in the world), music was constantly heard in the Stewart home. JT decided he wanted to try to make some electronic music. Luckily he received a vintage analog synthesizer (a Roland JX8P) as a gift from his parents. He acquired a cheap drum machine and more pieces of equipment and started making songs. He sent them to his favorite labels, and received overwhelmingly responses from Morgan Geist (Metro Area) at his Environ label, and from Russ Gabriel (Ferox). But having only cheap recording equipment and little money, it would be a while before any $tinkworx material being released.

Garcon Taupe / Legowelt – Split LP Series #4 [NM039]

With smashing contributions by electro lord Legowelt from dirty brown The Hague and bleep addict Garçon Taupe from the bourgeois slums of Amsterdam, Narrominded presents the fourth installment in its renowned Split LP Series. Both sides of this Split LP comprise a whole EP in length, and the contributions have in common that they are both deeply rooted in electro music. Side one brings Garçon Taupe – wittenburg ep with some Commodore, amiga influenced electonica with a touch of acid. Split side is for Legowelt – land rovers in astrophysics ep. 4 tracks in the well known Legowelt style… West Coast disco, electro jack shizzle.
