Donato Dozzy and Neels Spazio Disponibile label has come correct with a fantastic new EP, this time from Donato Dozzy in collaboration with US artist Mike Parker. Parker has a very unique and well styled brand of techno that fits in perfectly with the deeply hypnotic sounds favoured by Dozzy. Together they cook up four more brain frying cuts that are expertly crafted and meticulously sculpted.
A tribute to Andreas Gehm (1972 – 2016), German producer, king of acid and inspiration to many including the artists in this compilation. All proceeds will go towards funding Andreas Gehm’s post-mortem affairs, managed by his best friend, Joe Kurta. Long live the king. The sixth compilation of mutated machine music from Contort Yourself centres around British industrial pioneers Nocturnal Emissions. The group hack out two thick cuts of oil soaked savagery. Gears crunch and chains clatter as drum machines are minced and mangled for Demon Circuits Bloodbath before the reduced and removed bitterness of Even the Good Times are Bad. L.I.E.S. main man Ron Morelli under the guise of U-202 takes on the static of the ’83 original, lonesome rhythms fired into a gaping hollow of echo and decay. There is brief respite, very brief, coming in the haunted strings of Penelope’s Fiance. Torrent grinds this short break into dust with EXE 2 Blueprint, a sludge stomper drowned in distortion and dripping with distress. Innsyter (L.A. Club Resource), aka Seixlack, calls time with the hazy house bottle smasher; think fog machines and bodies in the dark and you’re getting close. Off-kilter madness all-round!
Ace four-tracker. Caves was created in the aftermath of a devastating set by DJ Stingray, and sounds like it: storming but funky, infused with the spirit of classic Detroit techno. Spacetown marries Arpanet and John Carpenter, with a saturnine melody which sticks in the mind. Flip it for a deadly Caves remix by man-of-the-year Convextion, inimitably sci-fi but banging; and the elemental, ambient accomplishment of The Strips, consolidating the promise on show throughout.

Stalking darkness and light, bordering the divine and profane, “Actus Tragicus” pulls the dancefloor into the murky shadows of Rome. Ritualistic chants, chilling choirs and hissing beats are brewed across two slabs of vinyl. BPMs dip and rise as Hesperius Draco takes you on a winding journey through the catacombs of his world.
Editor extraordinaire, Sneaker welcomes you to marvel at his Midas Touch. Happy disco or chirpy funk edits these ain’t. Instead the Rat Life man unearths three dark obscurities and further blackens their already sinister sounds.’Playground’ by Click Click first came out in 1988. Sneaker maintains the tension, the steady and strained notes as vocals tell a tale of shrouded menace. Ralph Lundsten opens the flip, his 1970 track ‘Through A Landscape of Mirrors’ is bolstered with snapping rhythms, synths are smeared and wrenched as the twisted hand of Dunkeltier takes control. The last instalment, first released on Ant-Zen in 2006, is Geneviève Pasquier’s ‘Fairy Tale.’ A gritty track of reduced industrial essences, the original has been extended and further muddied for ready-made dancefloor corruption.

Kilner aka Blawan with a new double EP for Avian. Jamie Roberts is no stranger to the more experimental tenets of the Techno genre, and much of the British artist’s output of late has hinted at more leftfield leanings. It’s this same willingness to break down perceptions regarding his own music that marks Walk Type – Roberts’ debut on the Avian label, as a notable chapter in the artist’s discography. In terms of aesthetic finish, AVN027 might be Roberts’ most comprehensive and well articulated ode to the culture of machine music – but it’s also his most organic offering. Corroded drones provide the basis for much of the material, pitching & bending at will – shifting & warping in and amongst furtive drum work, that by and large sits uncharacteristically deep in the mix.
The second release on Arcing Seas by label heads Cassegrain. This new material presents the duo’s very individual approach to tonality within the techno framework, combined with a subtle tribal influ-ence. Maintaining their aim, they keep things exciting for the club as well as sonically. Label info: Arcing Seas is an anagram of Cassegrain. It started out as a secret alias, releasing a couple EPs on Our Circula Sound. The secret was less well kept after the duo appeared at Berghain under this name. A year later, after deciding to start a label, it finally made sense to bring the two together.

TX Connect’s Gavin Guthrie is a horror soundtrack enthusiast and regularly DJs gigs with that premise. So it’s no surprise that he’d produce an EP that implements these themes. The T.R.U. Halloween EP is a special edition EP that collects and compiles 5 tracks from Gavin’s inner circle that range from 80’s era horror soundtrack chase scene music to dark techno. With the recent surgence of Survive and Stranger Things, this EP fits right in the pocket and is slated for a Halloween 2016 release.
