Despite the watery divide between them, Brooklyn-bound Greg Schappert and London-based Tom Russell have fostered a production partnership as Donor / Truss for the last six years, emerging today as one of technos more robust and hardworking duos. For Grey Series 05 they don the Donor / Truss moniker once again after a spell apart, proving themselves as accomplished and unpredictable as ever with the fully formed ‘Aber’. On the A-side swampy techno is bruised with house in “Spacial”, turning soupy on the sluggish and barely rippling “Beneath”. Fidgety “Ease” then does an about turn on the B-side before plunging headlong into swollen substrata stuff on the close.

DEMENT3D Records presents : Polar Inertia Remixed // DM3D005 The story may be quite standard, nevertheless, we feel this record is really special. Last year, in Paris, among all the promoters that made this kind of ”techno riot” happen, there was ”The Only Way Out.”. It’s been found guilty for Silent Servant’s and Abdulla Rashim’s first appearances in the french capital. We’ve had the honour of sharing these line ups with them, finally getting in touch, and starting conversations that ultimately ended up being a record : dedicated to remixing Polar Inertia’s first two ”EP-sodes”. So that’s it, ”Major Axis” has been handled by Silent Servant, ”Black Sun” transfigured by Abdulla Rashim, and our in-house champion Francois X has made a very special treatment to ”The Last Vehicle”. We are positively thrilled about this one.

Three tracks of dark haunting techno for smoky dancefloors with that relentless sound of RePitch Recordings. The trio Ascion, D. Carbone and Shapednoise return with the third release of the 000 versions on their own label.

American bass lifer Will Creason aka Cosby has a storied history in various electronic micro-scenes, with hands in an an array of labels and modes, but he first cropped up on our radar back in early ’11 with his “Sangria” demo, an entrancing anthem of sultry, Sound Stream-y nu groove magic that we immediately burned and spun out in several time zones. Inspired equally by NY garage and Baltimore club music, he patiently pieced together the rest of his SILK debut EP from sessions in Seattle and D.C. and the results reveal a colorful cutaway of classic club energies: dubbed vocal workouts, confused house, funky footloose FX, jacking party acid, woozy filtered disco edits, etc. Hands Together casts a wide net and is all the better for it, dragging up a fun, freaky mishmash of time-warped dance forms from the bottom of the body-music world-brain.

Don’t Be Afraid present the latest EP from America’s Disco Nihilist, and the first in their Special Editions series. This release sets the tone for a series of classic dancefloor cuts from the most sought after producers on the underground house circuit.

Mysterious producer Lily drops his/her first full 12″ on Idle Hands. A-Side ‘Trumpets at dawn’ is a latin techno roller, complete with steel drum melody, tough percussionand driving synths. Italian house producer Nicholas hooks up with UK’s Jessy Allen for a phenomenal deep house groover. Stronger comes in 3 slammin house versions by Nicholas himself. While Quell delivers a rough club mix.

Memory-taper James Booth trickled through his teen years in Manchester tracking melancholia house shadows and overcast bedroom bangers on a home-rigged dictaphone/Tascam arrangement, and though he’s since upgraded his studio assemblage the essential agenda remains unchanged. “Reunion” is his debut, documenting ten of his choicest Northern isolation reveries, a Polaroid-hued tube-ride-turned-rhythm-odyssey through 150 shades of grey, from the nocturnal ice-house jazz of “End Tipsy” to the foggy, 5 AM club deja vu, “Seeing Voices.” An alternately hushed and hypnotized journey to the end of the night, in search of pleasures known and unknown.

As an intermittent feature over at Deep Explorer, Leo Gunn makes his second vinyl appearance for the label appearance with some typically astute deep house ponderings, starting off with the lush undulations of “Dancing With Dreams”. “Come Down” gets into a tripped-out mind state of a different nature with its soulful key progressions, although still very much in that elegant vein championed by Deep Explorer. “Open Spaces” brings equal amounts of wistful atmospherics, although over a slightly more pronounced beat, while “Quiet” sees Dubbyman getting in on a reconstruction that lets cheeky synth flutes amongst other things dart into the blissed-out mix.

Mihai Popoviciu joined the team for the fifth vinyl release of the Popcorn Records’ fabric. The record starts with Sortable, evolving with a deep vibe around a subtle patch that conveys you in weightlessness. The whole theme is sprinkled with a synth that unconsciously reminds you the cue of a famous pink comic of your childhood. D’Julz made a rework using all the elements in a total different way, focusing on the drum’s effects. On the B face, Blur close this records with melodic patches and slight strings flying around a deep bass for a perfect summer result.

Including tracks by Lucretio, Steve Murphy and DJ Octopus, Chevel, Caio and Madi Grein. 5 tracks of gritty house music by the members of the Riviera project, showcasing the suburban sound that has been flourishing from the muddy banks of the Brenta river.
