Seminal early 70’s Bahamian Funk of the highest order. The debut LP from the Munnings brothers legendary outfit. “Funky Nassau” is one of the most sought after Soul/Funk records ever with it’s highly original blend of US black music styles and Bahamian roots. A very famous band in their native Nassau, the group only had 2 full length albums under their belts along with a slew of 45 singles but have managed to stamp their name on the ears and minds of record lovers since they first burst onto the scene. The obvious track to reference here is the title track “Funky Nassau” a breakbeat fuelled monster dance cut that has supplied hungry samplers with sounds for decades (everyone from The Prodigy & The Roots among those who have used the cavernous drum break!), the rest of this excellent LP also includes the amazing Funk of “Come Down” and a whole host of other brilliant sun-drenched tracks. Absolutely essential. Here’s your chance to own a true classic! You’d be hard pressed to find another well rounded debut LP, this one is pure joy from start to finish.

During the 1970s, Tilahun Gessesse enjoyed a successful career in his native Ethiopia. Blessed with a sublime voice, he specialized in creating popular hybrids of hot American styles – most notably soul and jazz – with traditional Ethiopian styles. Sima!, which is named after one of his most revered 7″ singles, gather together music from numerous releases throughout the 1970s. It boasts numerous gems that see Gessesse combine his bold, snaking vocals with rocking rhythms, modal jazz mysticism, and heart-aching ballads. Given the standards of recording studios in Ethiopia at the time, much of the material is notably lo-fi, sound wise, but in many ways that enhances the intoxicating feel of the music. A killer selection from one of the leading vocalists from the golden age of Ethiopian music, ranging from 1969-1975. If Ethio-funk, soul and pentatonic, Sun Ra-esque moods are your bag, you’ve come to the right place.

‘Fragment’ is a new instalment from Moscovitch Music composed by veteran English Jazz saxophonist/flautist – John Scott. This EP is almost a companion piece to Scott’s rare Columbia Lansdowne LP ‘Communication’ (1967), a firm Gilles Peterson favourite, with its Conga-tastic version of Ellington’s ‘Caravan’. For fans of filmic UK Jazz this release is a real gem, and there are strong musical connections to the 60s American ‘Third Stream’, Dorothy Ashby, France’s Michel Magne and Francois de Roubaix and of course our own talented composers like Tubby Hayes, Graham Collier and Neil Ardley. ‘Ride in a Pontiac’ with its driving bongo rhythm is pure Spy-Jazz (Courtesy of KPM Drummer Barry Morgan) – Remarkably similar in feel to tracks from the legendary ‘All Night Long’ (which also featured John Scott alongside friends such as Tubby Hayes and Johnny Dankworth). ‘Night of Love’ is an evocative mood piece, pensive yet gentle, with an air of Miles Davis’s smoky ‘L’Ascenseur Pour L’Echafaud score while ‘Waiting/Revelation’ begins with a lonely Flute motif which erupts into a percussive hard bop workout worthy of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers!

Shlomi Aber makes a big step up by putting out a trio of his killer techno cuts on the NonPlus label. His XY Play EP continues in his no nonsense, ‘floor facing style and impresses once more. Shlomi Aber is an underground titan who runs his own musical empire in the form of his Be As One label.

For the fourth edition of Slow Motion’s Soundtrack Serie we welcome Heinrich Dressel, better known as one part of Minimal Rome. Space Shaft is three tracks of dreamy, sleazy space-funk delivered with a light touch across expansive musical horizons. Backed up with a brace of Ma Spaventi versions – both ‘disco’ and ‘chill’ Space Shaft is a record for movie fans and dancers alike.

Eva Geist is an italian electronic musician and composer based in Berlin. Her early musical experiences in electronic music were largely self-directed, beginning with use of synthesizers and sequencers to different audiovisual computer and mobile technologies. Geist’s music builds up a cinematic musical journey around rarefied melodies, arpeggiators, soft beats and space disco. Under the Eva moniker hides the underground polyedric artist Andrea Noce, who previously released a mini-LP last year with David Kristian on Macadam mambo. This EP includes a wonderfull remix of «Tanz Im Morgenmantel » by Salon des Amateurs head’s Tolouse Low Trax, transposing it in a very subaquatic version.

The eleventh Modal Analysis release introduces Umwelt, with his debut appearance on the label. Density EP is a 4 track release blending Umwelt’s unique style which is a perfect fit with the Modal Analysis aesthetic. Industrial meets electro here, and the Lyon based producer joins the sound of Athens. Density #1 fully reflects Umwelts skills on enigmatic riffs and fat bass-lines. Density #2 and Density #3 sneak into the more dance-floor minded record bags, while Density#4 feeds a melodic/melancholic feeling whilst hard hitting beats bring it home.

Brand new Inkamera EP on Last Known Trajectory! Inkamera’s fresh, fluid and often poetic twist on electro is evident via all six tracks on this striking release. Includes the gorgeous ‘Skylar’ and ‘No Dead Men’s Cries (feat Bogdan W. Rousseau)’.

Reissue of 2012 “Psyops For Dummies” with two unreleased tracks: “Hypoalgesia” and “Cognitive Load Theory”. Sherard Ingram – DJ Stingray – has been an active member in Detroit’s electronic music community for nearly 25 years now. Never shy of a collaboration, Ingram spent much of the ’90s teaming up with Carl Craig, Anthony ‘Shake’ Shakir and Kenny Dixon Jr. to create a rich downtempo sound as Urban Tribe, with culminated in the release of 1998’s much-lauded The Collapse of Modern Culture album. He was then recruited to be the tour DJ for Drexciya in their final days, taking to the decks as DJ Stingray and masking his face from the audience, something he continues to do for all of his DJ appearances.

It’s amazing to think that Jay Daniel is still only 25. Since making his debut five years ago, the producer has been responsible for some of the finest house music to emerge from Detroit in recent times. Interestingly, he’s slightly modified his woozy and gently soul-flecked blueprint on this hotly anticipated debut album. For starters, many of the tracks – standouts “Paradise Valley” and “Knowledge of Selfie” included – feature live drums, played and recorded in his mother’s basement. This rhythmic adjustment gives Broken Knowz a far looser and warmer feel than his previous work, in the process elevating his deliciously rich and musical deep house to a whole new level. In other words, it’s an impressively assured and entertaining debut album.

First physical release from Belgian label House Running, with 4 fine house cuts, made by Tell, Meemo and Baltra plus a remix of Deced by Kiani & His Legion.

The colors are stunning. In a single view, I see looking out at the edge of the earth, all the colors of the prism. Red at the horizon, blends to orange and yellow, followed by a thin white line, then light blue, gradually turning to dark blue, then black as the vastness of space engulfs the surroundings. As I looked upon our home rock, I saw many natural features. I witnessed a large river meandering slowly along for miles, passing from one country to another without stopping or hesitation. I also saw huge forests, extending along & across several borders as if these divides didn’t exist. I watched the extent of one ocean touch the shores of separate continents; then suddenly, a profound thought came over me as I looked down on all this….The Birds Don’t Fly This High

Shubaka 03 comes pushing hard. Dj Nature, the legendary Milo Johnson from 90´s NYC scene, is here at his best, with a magical downtempo house track with a crispy bass line, and mystery keys. Damon Lamar well-known for his contribution to the dance music with his fantastic releases on his own label, tetrode, (and his first works as ‘Baby Pop’), is bringing to B-Side an emotive, atmospheric and deeply rooted slow house track.

Keita Sano is born in 1989 in Okayama. He makes a technoid yet lo-fi version of music for discotheques that’s uniquely his own. Here is his debut album on Full Pupp sublabel Rett I Fletta.

TV .OUT from Tel Aviv with this limited 10 Inch on HotMix Records, remind to the old italian productions on MBG and DFC Records.

Kitjen’s fifth installment comes in the form of three floor-friendly cuts by Melbourlin’s Fantastic Man. This Swiss Army Knife of a 12? gracefully knocks on the doors of Italo and Acid House and is filled with trippy drums that create a perfect pool for you to drown in.

Eine Welt is a vinyl-only sublabel of Mond Musik, found by spAceLex (Alexander Arpeggio). While Mond Musik focuses on obscure electronic made in Germany in the 80s, Eine Welt concentrates on the contemporaneous submerged electronic scene in Europe. The first release, scheduled on the 28th of November, features undisclosed talents, reunited in a short club-oriented compilation and introduced one by one on the inlay. One of the aim of this project is to build up a community of producers with a different view on dance music.
