Vertical67 – Craic Memories EP [LDR012]
German producer Vertical67 debuts on Lunar Disko Records, with a 10″ consisting of 3 deep & dreamy tracks. The uplifting ‘In Space’ covers the A-side with bright and protruding soundscapes, glistening like stars in a far away galaxy. The B-side opens up with ‘Craic Memories’, portraying a house groove throughout, yet still retaining an electro mood amongst some delicate and twinkling melodies. Finishing up the EP is the affectionate ‘Mutuality’, displaying adept drum programming alongside a lush female voice which rises sporadically above dreamy melancholic sounds and a soft brooding vox.
Matti Turunen – Elokuu Ep [MUHK001]
Muhk present their debut EP as a small label specializing in hardware made electronic music. The Elokuu EP produced by Finland’s Matti Turunen; one half of the Morphology electro duo, is Matti’s 2nd solo EP and within these 3 hypnotic techno/house/electro analogue jams, Matti shows us the beauty of producing electronic music the old skool way with glowing synths and clattering drum machines.
Binny – Sub Space EP [ASGOR008]
Binny brings his own unique take on Detroit techno to the table. He transforms his energy into mind-boggling ol’skool floorwork detroit techno with some amazing synths and throbbing baselines. He is accompanied with a remix by Abstract Division.
DJ Deep – Kern Vol 1 [KERN001]
Kern is Tresor’s new mix series and focuses on “where old meets new, and house meets techno”. The first mix comes from Parisian legend DJ Deep, from which these three exclusive, never-heard-before tracks are taken.
Gari Romalis – The Last Man Standing EP [DSR004]
Gari Romalis is at the forefront on the techno scene in Detroit. Gari has been djing for over 30 years and is single handedly responsible for training and influencing some of Detroit’s most famous DJ’s and producers. He’s now back on Dockside Records, with a straight from the machines floor-devastating EP: two fat and insanely grooving Detroit house cuts on the first side and one 4/4 Detroit meets Basic Channel on the flip.
Pittsburgh Track Authority – Giza [ARGOT003]
The Pittsburgh Track Authority trio of Thomas Cox, Preslav Lefterov and Adam Ratana continue to flourish, here joining the Argot ranks. “Giza” and its B Side accompaniment demonstrate a charming flexibility to their collective production palette. “Giza” is a resplendent slice of 2-step, the swift rhythmic touches blessed by luminescent melodic patterns and rapid orchestral edits. Complementing this, the trio engage their love of electro with the squiggly subaqueous flex of “Crosstown Blvd”.
Lucretio – Harvesting EP [MSP003]
Machines State Polymers is back with another ferocious mixture of techno-filtered, house power. Lucretio gives us his third release for the label and furthers his explorations into the relationship between machines and sounds. His improvisational and ultra-minimalistic approach to constructing techno, not to mention the strict reliance on analogue hardware, have created an inimitable flare and familiarity to his tracks. The A side kicks off with a pumping, bass-driven groove which subtly evolves to become a relentless house bomb; followed smoothly by the sharp, quick-firing sample technique for which Lucretio is so well known for, on the A2. Over on the flipside, a desolate female vocal is pushed forward by a murky, tape-hissed percussion which is rapidly engulfed into a frantic whirlpool of ghostly synths and crispy effects. Finally, “Your Name” switches things up and breaks down the more familiar 4/4 territories into a twisted, half-stepping monster, complete with Lucretio’s trademark drumming style – raw, sparse and crunchy.
Amir Alexander – Gutter Flex EP [ARGOT001]
A new label curated by Little White Earbuds’ Editor-In-Chief and Stolen Kisses label owner, Steve Mizek, delivers its first release from American producer, Amir Alexander. Its four tracks reveal a startling rich and complete aesthetic inspired by the history of American house while avoiding merely emulating its forefathers. Alexander’s commanding melodies are carried on hard-bitten beats and often guided by deeply resonant bass lines beftting of this trained bassist.
Borrowed Identity & The Mechanical Soul Brother – First Step [TRA022]
The Traveller Records presents the young producer Borrowed Identity, a Romanian born, now living in Germany. The project Borrowed Identity was found as a new alias of the Romanian producer in the summer of 2011, with the idea behind to work on a fusion of classic electronic music from Detroit & Chicago plus his own influences to make something contemporary but timeless. This EP includes remixes by Emil Seidel and Steve Frisco.
OCH / The Model – Elite Conversationalists Edition [AUTO013]
Four deadly cuts of timeless, jackin’ house and deep techno professionalism. OCH returns to his Autoreply home with a new series of split 12”s inviting a diverse group of producers to share a slab of wax. For the A Side he opens with “Deltic” which sets the mood with tough yet soulful chicago vibes. OCH’s second contribution is “Freeze-Thaw” showcasing a deep, hypnotic groove alongside powerful sub-bass, lush female vox with dreamy analogue pads that bridge the gap between artistic creativity and memorable club versatility. On the flip side it’s Romanian all-rounder, The Model. Here he delivers two ultra-phat workouts in the form of “Dungeon Man”, an infectious chord driven floor-burner and “Stancuto” a stripped back, percussive take on the same theme demonstrating his emerging new warehouse sound.

A Guy Called Gerald – How Long Is Now [BOSCONI021]
The oldskool hero A Guy Called Gerald with his first release on Bosconi Records. The release randomly arrives in coincidence with the definitive closing of another legend, the place in Berlin that has been a symbol for years of the cultural renaissance of the german capital after the wall, the Tacheles. When Gerald just moved to Berlin, he got his house and his studio inside that very inspiring and artistic place, and as a tribute and homage to his legendary figure, some mysterious writer draw G’s face on the right side of that building with the shamanic enigma above that giant mural “How Long Is Now”. A1 gives the title to the EP and it’s subliminal dark and psychedelic after-hours dope session, while on B1 there’s the shady and sexy atmosphere of “Groove of the Ghetto”, a driving and funky house tune sustained by an ultra fat synth bass and enriched by soulful vocals and deep pads, while on B2 the EP ends wih the brutal Uk bass bonus beats monster entitled “202”. In memory of Tacheles and the good old days.
Fudge Fingas – Untytled EP [FIREC009]
Three new tracks, and the third in a row of releases for the prolific Mr. Fingas. Backed up by fellow Firecracker, Linkwood, this originally came out as a limited 50 copy run release early this year and sold out within minutes. Fingas kicks off proceedings with “Untyltled” – a record that could only come out of the Firecracker camp. Taking inspiration from Detroit and Chicago but giving it that distinctly Firecracker sound – heavy on the keyboard motifs, high fidelity, musically accomplished and well produced. Meandering bleepy melodies contrast with gliding synthlines and a ravey, M1-type bassline. The movement between sections is seamless and will take people on an intoxicating musical journey. Linkwood steps up on side B, “Secret Value” has mysterious, seductive key changes and atmospheres; 16 bar acid sections building up and dropping into lush, blessed-out micro-solos of synthesized flute and exquisite pads. A sonic buffet served to perfection. Finally we get one of Firecrackers trademark interludes, “Minus 616” is a beautifully crafted, neo-classical piano piece. Reverberated into the distance, the piano playing is skillful and emotive and the strange outboard effect it’s processed through gives it that otherworldly, tripped-out vibe.
Dario Zenker – Installment 4809N [IT016]
The mystical fairy tale of lord Chris De Slurgh of the highest bavarian highlands ends here. It was just a matter of time until the malignant and breathtaking small Sepp Spidin unleashed his Healin chi waves to conquer Tape Castle. Therefore lady Calyx, the lords beloved affair with each of her fingers of 180g weight, requested a chastity out of the purest vinyl only to continue Filming Arroyo without any fear. And then Bavaria was born. In other words this 4 tracker supported by your mum manages to come along heavy without rippin off some folk song and putting some lame ass ritterbeat underneath it.

Mark du Mosch delivers a new techno EP for SD Records. Follow up on the superb debut album ”Salmiak” featuring trippy, long and deep techno with ”Sanctuary”, a dancefloor-cracking-remix by Syncom Data of the mad acid-rave of ”Cold Sweat” and the lovely melancholy disco-ish house soundtrack which is ”Loss”.
Abstract Division – Relevance EP [LABRYNTH017]
Abstract Division venture away from their own Dynamic Reflection imprint for the first time, releasing the Relevance EP for Portuguese label Labyrinth. The deep and repetitive bleeps of “Relevance” suggest it’s a track for peak-time dancefloors during longer sets. Pacou inventively reworks the original into an effective loop made up of the same elements, only upping the intensity, whereas Michaelangelo does away with any bleeps in his version, substituting them for an acid bassline and dissonant synths. Forward Strategy Group maintain Abstract Division’s late night vibe via subtle blips embedded in dusty atmospherics and ricocheting reverberations.
Parassela – Label Nightmares EP [VVR004]
The Analogue Cops and Blawan are back on Vae Victis with the second installment of their brand new Parassela series. The intent of threesome to restore the old school analog vibe is clear also in this 4 tracks ep of raw and gritty techno which also feature a remix from Italian label pals Die Roh.
