Jason Letkiewicz aka Steve Summers latest EP moves forward from his previous efforts touching upon the seedier and more jacking side of what New York City House music once was. Bringing to mind images of a more dangerous and exciting city where crackheads roamed free, hookers hooked, fiends copped bags and music existed as a reactionary reflection of its surroundings. Directly influenced by these times, Summers took his arsenal and concocted an emotional four song record that nods to this period as well as foreshadows the impending doom of a city wrapped in an airtight bubble.

Polish producer Kuba Sojka with a smoky and nostalgic house on London label Souliner. Title track “Berlin News” utilises multiple layers of expansive pads over an ascending analogue bassline; considering how many elements are jostling for position the effect is impressively reined in. On the B-Side, “Electronic Fever”, the same kind of arrangements are used, but building up to a complex improvised piano melody. The last track “Auster Session” is a collaboration with Electribalt.

Next up on Tom Trago’s Voyage Direct series is Maxi Mill, a young producer from Amsterdam. ‘To The Next’ / ‘Sun Rays’ is his debut release and showcases his love for raw, dirty and syncopated house music.

Aybee teams up with Miles Sagnia for two cuts each on the Eternal Radiance EP on Sagnia’s Atmospheric Existence imprint. Taking over the A-Side, Aybee serves up “A Glance” which oozes with classic US house charm. Acoustic piano chords and are layered on top of a chugging bassline and electronic melody, tightly produced and melting in its warmth. “Isis” gets heavier with a more underground vibe of crashing echoes and tinny drum arrangements. On the flip, Sagnia’s “Journey 2 Forever” fuses multi-tracked choral chants, the impeccable sound of the Hammond and a rapid techy groove. His Visual Foci Reprise of “Journey 2 Forever” ditches the chants, instead opting for a sensual male vocal.
