2019 Top 3 – Readers List
2019 is coming to the end so it’s that time of the year when we look back and see what caught our attention the most. As the tradition is on our side, we look first at the preferences of our readers and this is a top 3 of the most appreciated albums, compilations, mixes and other stuff.
Retina.IT – Formant / Neural Map [NONPLUS049]
Retina.it debut on Nonplus Records, with five tracks of analogue driven Techno/Electronic music.
Shlomi Aber – XY Play [NONPLUS038]
Shlomi Aber makes a big step up by putting out a trio of his killer techno cuts on the NonPlus label. His XY Play EP continues in his no nonsense, ‘floor facing style and impresses once more. Shlomi Aber is an underground titan who runs his own musical empire in the form of his Be As One label.
Eduardo De La Calle – Sensitive Compartmentd Information EP [NONPLUS036]
Eduardo makes his return to Nonplus with the Sensitive Compartmented Information EP. Eduardo is one of techno’s most dedicated underground legends and continues on a path unaffected by fads or fashions. Following on from his Sequoia Symposium in April last year again we have a 4 tracker exploring the deep realms of techno.
Inland – Wayfinder [NONPLUS032]
Ed Davenport aka Inland steps up on Boddika’s Nonplus; and delivers the goods as always. “Overpass” is a full frontal peak time weapon that reflects his experience playing in the worlds best techno club and brilliantly executed in all its nine minute glory. The title track is more suited for the pre peak time moments; a hypnotic slow burner but still retaining some intensity. Finally “Dromolaxia” is a sturdy and slowly evolving stomper with some real sinister dub chords lurking in the background.
Redshape – I Feel Like Riot [NONPLUS029]
Nonplus release a new EP by Redshape. Feel Like Riot’ and ‘The Rift’, stay in the vein of his sci fi laden Detroit techno style that continues to evolve but stay true to his unmistakable Redshape sound.
Eduardo De La Calle – The Sequoia Symposium [NONPLUS027]
Hailing from Spain, Eduardo De La Calle has been a prolific DJ and house and techno producer since the early nineties. Eduardo is an underground legend staying true to his analogue production techniques and never following the pack.
Skudge – Fingers / Vessel [NONPLUS021]
Nonplus imprint looks to Sweden for its next release, with one of Skudge’s rare appearances outside of their own imprint. Lead track “Fingers” is as simple as techno gets, as peak time chords filter through a strong 909 kick in a fashion reminiscent of Shed’s most effective Equalized moments. “Vessel” meanwhile is a more slow burning affair, building up its mechanistic arpeggio over swelling analogue pads and stray claps, combining classic Detroit sci-fi moods with a Berghain scale.
Basic Soul Unit – Swept Up / Mindstorm [NONPLUS020]
Basic Soul Unit gets rugged and nasty for Boddika’s Nonplus+ stable. The offset and grubby bruk drums of ‘Swept Up’ could easily be mistaken for an A Made Up Sound production, but there’s a warmer Detroit spirit at play which signifies the best of the Basic Soul Unit’s work and marks this up there with his finest. On the other side, ‘Mindstorm’ brews tense strings, escalating chords and roiling acid on a swung 4/4 flex, proper dangerous styles.
Kassem Mosse – Enoha EP [NONPLUS016]
Kassem Mosse releases his second EP for Nonplus, entitled Enoha with analogue sounding techno and electro tracks.
Barry Manalogue – Analogue / Koyo Front [NONPLUSLTD002]
Barry Manologue serves a killer debut for Nonplus’ second in a series of limited edition. Frontside ‘Analogue’ is a dramatic beatless excursion optimised for DJ’s opening statements or exaggerated breakdowns. Backside, ‘Koyo Front’ factors in a rugged, cyber-contoured House joint with trickling Drexciyan synthlines and smart rhythm edits.
Lowtec – Wonderkidd [NONPLUS011]
Lowtec licks up two deeply dipped grooves to follow recent Nonplus. Two slices of old school Detroit techno rooted house magic.
Kassem Mosse – We Speak To Those / High-Res [NONPLUS008]

Surprising dark & druggy deephouse/dubstep crossover from the german deep house producer, Kassem Mosse.
