Another piece of the story of the Italian scene of the 90’s inevitably returns to shine on Flash Forward. Leo Anibaldi was one of the pioneers of the sounds that so influenced and characterized those years. Deep, Techno and House blend to create unique atmospheres that will never die.
Bursting from the bubbling underground club scene of Tel Aviv, Bauhaus Records is a record label headed up by veteran scene originators and world renowned The Block club first residents DJ’s Amichay Matyas and Yogo, in partner with well-experienced label and artist manager, Udi Niv. Buahuas Records aims to provide a creative ground for a collective of local underground electronic producers & DJs, emphasizing the art of organic & analog sound and down to earth house music. Their experience of nearly 20 years of playing for Tel-Aviv’s underground dance floors, regularly rubbing shoulders with pioneers and leaders of house, disco and techno as well as their vast milage in the DJ booth, enables them to cherry pick the hidden treasures and unknown local gems of their scene whose highly secretive to many others.
South California’s acid maestro SFV ACid is featured on the third release by Third Try Records, the Pettyclubber EP, which includes artwork hand drawn by the artist himself. Five original tracks and one remix that brings together long time friends and collaborators SFV Acid, Suzanne Kraft and Secret Circuit with their first studio collaboration ever committed to wax.

The Tower That Stands In The Woods is a dubby slow-down before Suomi 100 Acid celebrates Finland’s 100th anniversary with lyrics that deal with recession and the Finnish government’s fair deal to cut everyone’s wage.

Zone Records welcomes Cardopusher for their next EP, a five track affair that is arresting from the off. Venezuelan born Cardopusher is now based in Barcelona and co-founded the Classicworks label. His diverse and experimental sound takes him from techno to electro to acid to rave to house, all with his own singular perspective. Kicking things off is the raw and raucous ‘Nothing Left to Believe In.’ It is a macho tune with fractured vocals, wild synths and slap funk drums all sounding industrial and tortured. Then comes ‘Blast Cut’, a more dynamic and stripped back electro groove with a corrugated bassline and metallic synth stabs all sounding informed by the past but looking to a distant future.
To celebrate 10 years of No Way Back (a regular party in Detroit…and beyond), the label is launching the Acid Series, a series of records on Interdimensional Transmissions inspired by the No Way Back parties. The second release in the series comes from Justin Cudmore. He is the latest in the line of midwesterners to emerge from the Brooklyn music scene, hailing originally from Illinois. And you can hear it in his music, that mesmerizing midwestern groove and deep heady thoughtfulness.

The legend DJ Pierre digs through the vaults for a 12 track/12 artist double LP showcasing acid’s true pioneers from around the world. Acid 88 features new and original tracks from some of the style’s top producers that are flying the flag today for the Roland TB 303: Luke Vibert, Tyree Cooper, Mr. C, Posthuman, K Alexi Shelby and many more. Dedicated to the memory of Phuture co-founder DJ Spank Spank and respected German acid producer Andreas Gehm: who both passed away before their time in the summer of 2016. Number 10 in the Fell My Bicep catalogue comes as a single titled ‘Hail Falls’ from Tim Sweeney and Phillip Lauer operating under T&P. Having introduced their collaboration through a self released record on Sweeney’s own Beats In Space back in 2016 – T&P continue to develop this fruitful relationship and roll out more Disco-tinged Acid.
Spookily-named hard-cutting electro here from Pendle Watkins. The Four Winds has four tracks, each built on gorgeous vintage drum machines and driven by a focused desire for wild-eyed ecstatic dancefloor experience. This 12” EP release has been put out there by the Super Rhythm Trax label.
Third time is a charm. The Analogue Acid Project by Todd Osborn and Tadd Mullinix resulted in two records in 2005 and 2006 that excelled at the fabrication of gritty acid jak tracks ow, Todd N Tadd alias TNT aka the dynamite duo finally returns. Their third outing and first one on Running Back, is a detonative reunion of old and new friends. With two previously unreleased beat tracks on one side plus carefully tailored reissues of Hotness (from the blue record) and Beat This House (from the red record), you get a box of dynamite sticks in various sizes for different situations. More than ten years later and still as explosive.

The sixth vinyl missive from Soul Print Recordings is a double-header featuring two tracks apiece from Leonid and Laak. The former handles the A-side, laying down two deliciously intergalactic chunks of spacey deep house. On “Urania 1”, he wraps psychedelic acid lines, supernova chords and Motor City melodies around a snappy drum machine groove, before working the acid lines further on the deep and hypnotic “Urania 2”. Laak takes over on the flip, peppering a bouncy, off-kilter drum machine groove with cyclical melody loops and undulating acid lines on “Sp”. “Waiting For Tomorrow” is arguably even better, with the fast-rising producer wrapping a tactile, synth-bass heavy backing track with fluttering electronics and sunrise melodies.
Acid is the name of the game on Magic Waves’s twelfth release, an undercover excursion from one of the UK’s most eminent masters of the genre. ‘Borrowed Fogs’ on Side A is a 303-driven odyssey into dark and rapturous realms of analogue jamming, taking the listeners and dancers on a far-reaching flight to tweaking peaks on the far side of their minds before Side B bumps us back down to Earth with two hard, slamming, raw, sweaty, dusty and downright dirty basement-shakers in the shape of ‘Empty Warehouse’ and ‘R.T.F.M.’
