Takeshi Kouzuki is back on Alley Version with this superb four-tracker EP. House music at its best, starting from the basics laid out by Chi-masters like Larry Heard, Marshall Jefferson, liquefied in the typical mesmeric touch of this Japanese legend.
The fourth installment of the ‘Tracks From The Alley’ series continues to explore the oblique edges of the jackin zone, dragging recognizable primitive elements of dance music through narcotic madness; a possible soundtrack for sleepless nights at the skate park. Involved in this 4 tracker mini-compilation are the Greek dj/producer DimDj, the Berlin-based Italian producer and part of Sons Of Traders, TANS, the Portugal-based Brazilian Unrealistic Expectations label owner Nothing Was There, and the Alley Version’s brothers FLML.
Alley Version presents the third installment of the series ‘Tracks From The Alley’, a V.A. 4-tracker compilation, kicking off with a new track by the Japanese machines wizard Takeshi Kouzuki, ‘PaganParadise’, where Chicago style acidelic beats meets immersive gloomy pads and tiny dripping melodies. The Italian duo FLML complete the A side with ‘Analog Jerky Thing’, a tape recorded jam driven by a hypnotic proto-acid style touching bassline. Greek cult producer DimDj open the B side with the intricate ‘Apo Pou Eisai’, a track made of rarefied jack-beats into dub echoes, mutating in acid attacks. Closes the e.p. Chris Mitchell, U.S. based producer-DJ and label boss of Feral Colony, with ‘Tru1’, a raw impact complex textured acid-techno track.
The machines maniacs Bologna based duo FLML returns to Alley Version with “Wired Cruel Run”, a totally DIY 6-tracker EP of technoid experiments, drony patterns, wachy funks, inspired by the obscure side of Chicago jack-beats, early Industrial music, J.G. Ballard’s novels, low-budget VHS era horror movies.
All tracks are recorded analogically live on reel to reel.
Jamal Moss, Takeshi Kouzuki, FLML and Mituo Shiomi take part in “Tracks From The Alley Vol. II”, a Various Artists four-tracker E.P. which follows the imprint of the previous release of the Bologna based underground music label Alley Version. Here the jackin’ and acid house/techno sonic palette is diverted in a raw, immersive and screwy signature. Rough vibes for freaky minds.
Takeshi Kouzuki returns to Alley Version label for sharing with the brothera duo FLML, the split mini-LP “Tracks From The Alley”. Takeshi Kouzuki keeps crossing old school house with his recognizable classy signature. The warm but hitting acid of “福”, opens the Takeshi Kouzuki’s side, while in the second track “1986” deep-and-dark synthetic magic atmospheres are driven by the beating of the twins TR707 and TR727 drum machines. “Yellowacid” burns in its acid-jackin’ madness. Opening FLML’s side “Hot Spread” is obscure jackin’ techno mechanical psychedelia, the following “Jack That Strings” is a pure raw windy city deep‘n’acid track. In the closing “Does Mean It’s You” a freaky FM synth melody is driven by the pulsing of liquid and creepy analog synths and drums, while an 8-bit sampled Andy Warhol’s speaking fragment marks the space, until dies in a delay feedback.
L/F/D/M aka Richard Smith, Brighton based producer who comes to Alley Version after several killer releases for labels like Cititrax/Minimal Wave, Optimo Trax and collaborations with Factory Floor’s Dominic Butler on Powell’s Diagonal Records. “Club Germs On My Clothes” is a 4 tracks EP in which are recognizable elements of ebm, minimal wave, industrial, jackin, shaped in experimental hardware-driven raw-techno forms.
The second release of the label Alley Version, features the return of Takeshi Kouzuki, with his combo of jackin’ house rythms with melancholic, deep and outer space melodies.
