Martyn – Ghost People [BFCD025]

Martyn takes a step back to reflect in his new release Ghost People out on Brainfeeder. The LP gives off a jigsaw effect, pulling apart genres of music while delicately piecing together a mass of influences from all over the musical spectrum. The album itself is a masterpiece; ram packed with deep nostalgic notes while being filled to the brim with crunching dance floor bangers!

Samiyam – Sam Baker’s Album [BF022]

“Sam Baker’s Album” operates within recognisable Brainfeeder territory: instrumental tracks with compressed sound; unquantized, misshapen beats, with an analogue haze hanging over it all like smog (although Baker actually works digitally, favouring the Roland SP-303). But within these familiar parameters Baker successfully applies his creativity to making funk-derived sample-based hip hop sound fresh.
Om Unit – The Timps EP [CIV019]

The first full Om Unit release of 2011 comes courtesy of Civil Music. Namely “The Timps”, a full electro workout featuring 3 original tracks and remixes from Salva. As digital bonus a Hrdvsion remix is available.
George FitzGerald – Silhouette EP [AUS1134]

FitzGerald once again manages to create a world in which garage, dubstep, house, R&B and a host of other musical influences happily co-exist. On Silhouette hints of warm acid, layered oscillating synth lines, propulsive beats and FitzGerald’s signature use of vocal samples make this a peak time affair, albeit an incredibly lush one. Reset is eight minutes of forward thinking UK Garage combined with the melodic sensibilities of Detroit techno. For the Silhouette remix, Roberts develops a relentless broken groove, occasionally punctured by brief piano interludes that recall the sounds of his 2011 debut full-length on Dial Records, Glass Eights. A breathtaking remix that sounds like nothing else out there at the moment.

2562 – Fever [DOUBT001LP]

‘Fever’ is a concept album from 2562 aka Dave Huismans released on his fresh and new label When in Douby. The third long player coming from Dave is his disco album: a thorough reinterpretation of underground disco music from the mid seventies to the early eighties. All based on one simple rule: every single sound, from the smallest background shiver to the most obese sub bass, originates from a disco record – no additional synthesizers, drumcomputers or other samplesources involved – but this is genuinely new and retro-free music that respectfully flips its sources in a way nobody can recognize them.
Cosmin TRG – A Universal Crush [RHDC08]

Affectionate house grooves ranging from deep to high energy upbeat on this double 12″ from the Romanian Cosmic TRG. As he moves away from his dubstep/funky roots, he heads more towards 4-floor techno and house. Yet, he keeps his crisp drum programming and sharp synth lines, which makes his productions sound fresh and gives them a future feel.
Skudge – Skudge Remixes Part 3 [SKUDGE003R]

Rolando and 2562 provides the remixes for Skudge part 3. Rolando takes ‘Ontic’ into a deeper level with a cool vocal, the perfect groove and his nice sizzling shaker. 2562’s version of ‘Convolution’ is a true dubstep makeover.
QNS – QNS 6 [QNS06]

Sixth and final chapter in this label from Felix K. Pressed in Berlin, this is a recommended slab that sits somwhere between dubstep, drum & bass, techno and electronica. QNS stands for Quantity Not Sufficient.
Contakt – Not Forgotten EP [LOC005]

Local Action come correct with two debut productions by Contakt strapped with a killer Rolando remix! ‘Not Forgetten’ tips the balance towards boldly melodic and tranced-out motifs powered by a cool and clipped Funky roll, whereas ‘Rhodophyta’ is all about rugged, highly rinsable dub chord flares and staggered Funky rhythm construction for the movers. Detroit’s son, Rolando revises ‘Not Forgotten’ with a deft Latin tuck, savoring the build with a skilled restraint and teasing the rhythm like he’s loving it

Scuba – Liquid Radio Mix 17.01.2011
Phaeleh – Falling [DISF012]

Phaeleh steps up to Disfigured Dubz with the atmospheric roller ‘Falling’ b/w a junglist rework from Kulture. Phaeleh’s signature feel for rave-yearning, tranced-out melodic arrangements and cleanly produced dubstep rhythms are fully intact. However, the Kulture remix takes that diva vocal where it really needs to go, arming her with an undercarriage of heavy junglist rollidge.
George FitzGerald – Don’t You [HFT014]

Hotflush Recordings presents the follow-up single to George FitzGerald’s summer 2010 debut “The Let Down” and “Weakness”.Here we see the budding London-based producer reaching into the brighter side of post-dubstep and UK garage styles, achieving a mood that is both blissful and emotive. On the flipside, Scuba gives the original mix a churning techno re-flex under his SCB guise.
2562 – Aquatic Family Affair / This Is Hardcore [DOUBT000]

First official 2562 release in over a year, marking the launch of his new When In Doubt label. Two heartfelt low slung boogie anthems – a taster of things to come
Sepalcure – Fleur EP [HF026]

Sepalcure presents their second EP featuring four brand new cuts, on Hotflush Recordings.. The “Fleur” EP shows a progression of Sepalcure’s depth of field, weaving distant chords, soulful vocals, and organic rhythms into vibrant, immersive soundscapes, with echoes of house, techno, and dubstep within.
