Ekman – Nervous [ET026/GOOILAND008]

Hailing from Holland Ekman has been haunting the dancefloors for some time now with his deformed acid influenced dark and nasty slow electro and techno tunes… his music is fitting in perfect in between drugged out techno and new beat / early techno stuff…  and even some classic electro touches can be found… simply excellent for not your average dance party… but who likes average anyway…

Stephen Brown / Jonas Kopp – Lost Archives – Part III [AERA007.3]

Part three of the Lost Archives Series including 2 heavy tracks for the floor. On the A-side, Stephen Brown contributes with ‘The Flow’ in which he perfectly shows his own distinctive trademark sound. Moving synths on top of a rolling tribalesque beat. On the B-side we find Jonas Kopp with ‘Telergía’. It’s one of his most melodic pieces to date, which therefore makes a perfect match with Indigo. Up to date techno with old school Detroit influences.

Gerstaffelen – The Old Villagers [MOSDEEP017]

GERSTAFFELEN - The Old Villagers

Mysterious producer Gerstaffelen here debuts on Dutch label MOS Deep with The Old Villagers, a four track EP of grainy analogue house. The title track opens things up at a mid tempo house pace. It’s a dense, multi-layered track with plenty of squiggly synths, bobbling analogue basslines and radiant pads. ‘Game On Major’ is slightly more frenzied, with dusty hi hats looping over fairly frenzied synth sounds and some hints of acid are buried deep within this hazy sound world. ‘Little Green Munchkin Men’ gets even more unhinged and techno leaning with the sounds of various analogue machines all meshing together into a nebulous brew of off killer melody and curious metal hooks, before last track ‘When The Mind Stops’ brings a bit of raw old school house flavour to the table. The beats jack, some muffled vocals add an important human element and like everything on the EP the track invites you to lose your shit in the most beguiling of ways.

VA – Skum One [SKUM001]

Collaboration vinyl only release between Skudge Records and Kontra-Musik. It came to us some time ago that what Kontra-Musik and Skudge stood for had a lot in common, which is the reason for this SKUM entry. Uniting to showcase the Swedish techno underground is an act of faith in these times of extreme self focus. We want to tell the world that we believe not only in ourselves but also in this new wave of local artists, a pledge for the future. In the immemorial words of ABBA, when all is said and done, you still get epic throbbing stabby techno from Skudge, deep hectic madness from MRSK, classy lush slow mo acid from TM404 and cavernous acid house from the Frak camp, a testimony to the scene we so believe in!

Etapp Kyle – KW10 [KW010]

Cover art - Etapp Kyle: Astra

Klockworks celebrates its tenth release by introducing Ukrainian artist Etapp Kyle to the label. It’s the young producer’s first vinyl offering and it’s likely he’ll enjoy a similar spotlight of exposure to that of DVS1 did he debuted on Ben Klock’s imprint. The title track “Astra” sees melodic arpeggios bleep over a solid four-four kick drum as a 909 drum machine is used percussively as much as it is atmospherically. Kyle keeps things tonal in “Drama” adding a subtle dubby edge, while “Aurora” sounds like a chime-filled take of Ben Klock’s most defining tracks “Pulse” and “Subzero”. Kyle caps his homage to Berghain’s most famous DJ with more sweet blips and tough-loving drums that are surrounded by a crackling ambience in “Prizma”.

Moonraker – Lowjit Vagrants [TTT009]

https://imagescdn.juno.co.uk/300/CS479978-01A-MED.jpg

Trilogy Tapes release a new EP of battered techno and skittery sound design by Philadelphia’s Moonraker. ‘Oronimbus’ weaves eerie space-age blips into pattering beats, ‘Plot Query’ judders excitingly like it might veer of course at any moment. ‘Tilt March’ dispenses with the dreamy synths of the other tracks and goes for full on thick and beastly, scraping noise. Yet another incredible release from the always intriguing London label.
