Innershades presents a heavy and vibrant trip through electro, techno and acid on Ocular Unity, the 12th release on Berlin’s Mechatronica. Berlin’s Mechatronica returns with another compilation of forward-thinking electro and acid sounds from Innershades, Norwell, DJ Nephil and Gestalt. The A-side packs a dose of merciless electro/acid for the floor by Innershades, followed by a dazzling, atmospheric electro journey by Norwell. The flip boasts a more gritty sound, as Russian producer Gestalt debuts on Mechatronica with the twisted ‘Mndfck’, and DJ Nephil’s slow-rolling monster ‘White Dwarf’ finishes off the record.
After inaugurating the label with a first EP in december of 2014, Innershades returns home to deliver what will be the 6th release on 9300 Records. Kerrebroek Memories is the self made soundtrack of his childhood memories in the shared hometown of Aalst (Belgium). Expect to hear a homage to early Dutch electro with a modern twist and Innershades well known trademark for dancefloor injected house tracks. Rising Dutch star and new BFF of the Belgian 9300 family ‘Betonkust’ polished the A1-listed ‘Darkness Fades’ track into a melodious electro classic.

Creme Organization prodigy Innershades gets the show on the road with the synth slamming groove of “Moments of Euphoria”. Innershades is Belgium producer Thomas Blanckaert and now he is back with a new EP on Crème Organization, his third for 2014. Opener ‘CVS’ is a ravey mid tempo house cut with raw old school stabs, lots of percussive tension and drums that really make you wanna move. Then comes ‘Momentum’, a dramatic bit of thumping house with thick synth patterns, hooky melodies and emotive pads. The no nonsense vibes continue on ‘Dark Society’, with its ticking hits, thudding kicks and mysterious, snaking pads. Finally, ‘Oase’ marries more hefty kicks with classic claps, plenty of reverb and more ravey stabs that will really bring dancefloors out in a sweaty, 90s style. Modern house with a retro bent, this EP is sure-fire club dynamite.
Unstoppable youngster Innershades comes with a new limited four tracker on the Pinkman imprint. The Belgium based talent shows hes definitely not a one trick pony and continues to explore his sound even further. This time by releasing two phat old school electro inspired bangers, and two synthesizer (nu)disco tracks which already proved to be fully effective on the floor.
We Play House’s Our Beat Is Still New series has been something of a soar-away success, introducing a new generation of DJs to the distinctive, heavily electronic midtempo pulse of Belgian new beat via a constant stream of tribute tracks from contemporary producers. Predictably, there’s more to admire on this fourth and final 12″, not least the bass-heavy throb and rubbery electronics of Locked Groove’s tribute to Belgian new beat/techno legend Frank De Wulf, “El Rio Negro”. Elsewhere, young rave revivalist Innershades drops the moody and intoxicating “Massive Overdose”, while Lauer impresses with the winding synths, juddering drums and saucer-eyed pads of “Planet Barty”. FCL’s stomping “It Began in Belgium” – all cheap electronics and proto-acid tweakery – is also pretty darn good.
