Trus’me – Remixes [PN012]
Prime Numbers returns with a series of remixes of Trus’me favourites, including treatments from a host of current cherished producers. The 12 features the MDR records duo Marcel Dettmann & Norman Nodge. Dettmann takes a diversion from his more familiar techno blueprint, working ”Sweetmother” into a tight house groove. Intensifying all parts of the original he creates an insistent and deeply pressured production. On the flip ”Good God” gets dubbed & smudged into a beguiling ghostly haze. Nodge completely reworks the mix stripping back & filtering the elements to fantastic effect.
Sawlin – Techno Dumping [ANN016]
Sawlin drops four cuts of grainy, scratchy sounds with his Techno Dumping EP on Delsin little sister Ann Aimee. ‘Boring Feels’ is the deepest offering, gently pushing forward as sharp percussion sounds roll off the heavy and hunched over bottom end. ‘Techno Dumping’ is a punchier affair with trippy background atmospherics and a cantering bottom end that’s paranoid as hell, whilst ‘Datamen Working’ is a dubbed out destroyer with eerie shapes craft sounds and muffled vocals throughout. Closer ‘Neid Auf Vacuum’ lets in some shafts of melodic light to its clappy house heart, with rippling keys and train-track sounds fleshing out the backdrop.

Michael Frosinone is back with No. 2. Raw Analog Techno tracks. Unpredicatbles first release is a compromiseless raw killer maxisingle at the boundaries of filtered house and dub techno with thefull power of the analogue productions.
Skudge / San Proper – Dekmantel Anniversary Series Part 4 [DKMNTLAS5.4]
Dekmantel’s 5th Anniversary Series has so far been as finely curated and presented as you’d expect from the Dutch label, and this penultimate entry is no different with Skudge and San Proper introducing some dark techno business to proceedings. Swedish duo Skudge are on fine form with “Silent Running” delivering one of their subtly melodic productions that revolves grainily around one repeated and tweaked refrain. Given San Proper’s dedication to the label (he sports a Dekmantel tattoo after all) it’s little surprise the hirsute Amsterdam icon was asked to contribute and “Rattle (Station 2 Station)” is one of the best tracks on the series so far. A grinding, industrial beat mixes with dense vocals, synths, speech samples and plenty more. The end result is a perfect example of the kind of steamy, sweaty haze of late night damage that Mr Proper has made his own.
Cassegrain – Painter-Palette EP [MRECLTD011]
M_Rec Ltd is proud to welcome on board Cassegarin, Greek-British producer Tsiridis and Berlin/Vienna based composer and producer Evirgen. Both interested in exploring the territories where dark, raw techno meets UK-influenced sounds. On this new vinyl for M_Rec LTD, they bring two original tracks and a remix by Ed Davenport. The A side opens with A Painter Of Modern Life, a track laying the perfectly disturbed rhythm of modern life. A sequence of hypnotic techno where the rhythms are never heavy, the sounds antiseptics. Around this base, a brilliant and affective melody emerges. A touch of class that only few can sustain. Completing the A side there’s a remix by Ed Davenport. He throws the original track into a vortex of syncopated rhythms and deep atmospheres: the groove that comes out is amazing. On the B side Cassegrain showcase one track. Palette is true techno, with its rhythm straight and direct. There is no stopping, even with soft sounds rising slowly from deep below. Everything transforms into a pleasant trip, exciting and alive.

The second release on Non Series, a remix pack for Raffaele Attanasio’s Black Bloc, featuring remixes by Manzel and Markus Suckut.
Plant43 – Dreams Of The Sentient City [SEMANTICA041]
Plant43 returns on Semantica with a four-track electro EP. Most of the new material exhibits the melodic and placid side of electro, starting with “Neon”, good for nocturnal downtown cruising in a light drizzle. “Stellar Nursery” embarks on a space mission in more upbeat mood, expressed by blooming arpeggios and subtle disco bass, all resulting in a hefty dose of analog harmony. After futuristic dreaming and little melody played in “Metamaterial Cloaking”, the gates are smashed open in “Fluid Reasoning” for a turbocharged cavalry, whereas Plant43 is not afraid adding some trance quotient to this wake-up call.

Ed Davenport – Counterchange [NRKCD046]
Berlin based Brit Ed Davenport presents his debut LP on NRK Music. Counterchange has plenty of concessions to filmic home listening rather than straight up dancefloor fodder. Notably, breakbeats feature heavily up the spine of the album, as does subtle vocal sampling and plenty of atmospheric tension. Starting with the brooding drums and moody voices of “Of Light & Shade” the album unfurls through the barely restrained rave euphoria of the title track, the beautifully re-worked melodies of “New Yorkshire” and “More Red Lights” as well as touching on some sombre downbeat bleakness, bold concrete funk and under-lapping deep techno. The penultimate track, “Somewhere,” is to be the album’s forceful first single: an obvious choice for its deeply hypnotic rhythms and train-track grooves.

Gerry Read – Yeh Come Dance [DSRH001]
Delsin launches of a new house-focussed series and the first release is from the mysterious and 19 year old Gerry Read.
“Yeh Come Dance” explores dusty and rusty loops of drums, vocals and wooden hits all of which are held together with a knackered jazzy glue. ‘Crawlspace’ on the other hand is a foggy gaggle of kicks, drums, hi-hats and cowbells coated in plenty of hiss and crackle. ‘Bozza’ again demonstrates Read’s ability to produce something that sounds two decades old yet wholly contemporary at the same time. Chord prods here, raw hits there, jazzy motifs buried within – it’s house music designed for cosy little basements in the dead of night where ‘Crooked’ is more in yer face. The loops in this one are more exposed and loud in the mix, but still feel unmistakably elliptical and raw.

Shifted’s ‘Crossed Paths’ is a record which pushes the formal possibilities of techno and is the first full length work to be released on Mote-Evolver. On ‘Crossed Paths’ the breadth of Shifted’s ideas is both subtle and devastating. As a producer Shifted’s methodology is like that of a sculptor, he works principally with textures knowing precisely when to leave edges raw and fault lines exposed. ‘Crossed Paths’ is constructed of 11 ominous cuts carved with precision and poise.

Mutex Recordings are back on wax with Fluid EP from Unbalance. His music is an incredible collage of everything you love in techno: thick groove, Detroit-styled chords and spooky futuristic effects. Jonas Kopp and Manzel, on remix duties, complete the release.
