Polar Inertia – Indirect Light EP [DM3D002]

Second release on the French label Dement3d Records! Deep post-apocalyptic Berghain-style techno works by Polar Inertia, an enigmatic techno duo formed in 2010, who swiftly pointed themselves in the direction of an extremely contrasted music, both heavy and delicate. Evoking a sci-fi end-of-the-world countdown scenario, the two artists of polar inertia decided to move aside, and make way for an imaginative and poetic world based on the words of a mysterious narrator.

Quake – Device Overload [COINCIDENCE045]

Quake is best described in one simple word: analogue. Hardware freaks to the core, this belgium based enigmatic duo makes their tracks with as little use of software as possible. Overall, the EP is a different approach to techno that seems to be coming at the right time as the pure, droning berlin techno seems to be at that crossroad where it needs to reinvent itself. Marcel Fengler provides a remix for the title track.

Ryan Elliott – Kicking Up [SPECTRAL106]

Ryan Elliott charges out of the gates with his first Spectral production, Kicking Up. Deep bass and snares hurtle ever forward, assisted by occasional, faint sonic flourishes and a bevy of throwback vocal loops, but is otherwise devoid of sustained melody. The “STABLO No. Remix” dials back the tech and pushes its house to the fore. Shakers, claps, echo and a whole lot of lateral motion imbues Elliott’s take-no-prisoners original with a surprising conviviality.

Kirk Degiorgio – Divine Logic [RH037]

Kirk Degiorgio returns on  Rush Hour with a new single, entitled ‘Divine Logic’. With ‘Divine Logic’ he keeps true to his own tradition by delivering a timeless piece of techno music. A string-laden track that evolves around an arpeggiated synth line. A classy joint that shows that the heritage of Detroit techno still lives on.

Markus Suckut – SCKT 01 [SCKT0016]

Markus Suckuts new label SCKT is characterized best as reduced to the essential and well-textured. On the new label the producer will release only his own productions and thereby present the root of his own style. Designed for the endless flow, the sustained structure and the dreamy-spherical melodies of the releases contrast each other. The luscious substructure is complemented by merciless haunting basslines. This mixture distinguishes each track as flawless, modern Techno, whose steerful production is palpable in every second.
