VA – ENOUGH!

In the face of the atrocities committed against Palestinians in both Gaza and all occupied territories the Jordanian label Dreaming Live issued this fundraiser compilation under the title ENOUGH!

All proceeds from this compilation will support Dr. Ghassan Abu-Sittah’s Children’s fund. Dr. Ghassan had volunteered extensively in Gaza throughout multiple crises. During this genocide, he worked in both Al-Ahli and Shifa hospitals. He was a survivor of the Ahli Hospital bombing which killed hundreds. His press conference outside of the hospital, surrounded by dead bodies, will be etched in our memories forever. He has now established a Children’s Fund which aims to treat injured children, rebuild the destroyed medical infrastructure, and establish a sponsorship program for 20,000+ orphans from the conflict.

VA – WorldWideWindow [ENISSLAB]

In light of the current Covid-19 Pandemic Studio Enisslab headed up by Italian DJ / Producer and Live Act Neel has announced the release of a very special 56 track charity compilation project, fundraising for The Red Cross, who are working extremely hard alongside health services internationally that are feeling the effects of the corona-virus outbreak the most right now. The compilation is available for a limited time via Bandcamp and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to The Red Cross to help the world’s most affected countries in the Covid-19 pandemic.

This special release features over 6 hours of previously unreleased and unheard material, where an all star cast of artists were encouraged to share music that reflects this time we are living in.

Neel, who is one half of live duo Voices From The Lake, and LF58 speaks out on behalf of the initiative, organised in collaboration with improvised live project Circle Of Live, and visual art collective Sbagliato. He explains:

“In this situation we all need to look after each other and this project is a start. I wanted to reach as many people as possible to spread this message, so I started to share the idea personally with lots of artists and the response was amazing. I wanted them to take their time with whichever tools they had available at home to produce some music that reflects this time we are living in, a contribution for this special project and to portray a special message.”

The project’s cover art image brought to you by visual art collective Sbagliato shows pictures of windows of houses and studios taken by the artists themselves: 56 musicians, 56 windows, 56 tracks shape a new place of sharing.

Dekmantel Selectors 2019

Dekmantel Selectors is now over, we are back to our usual life, or we are trying to, but the vibe of the festival is still buzzing through our vines. The turquoise waters of Tisno, the shade from the pine forest, the rocky coastline, the incredible sound of the cicadas that is worth of a representation in one of Rabih Beaini’s mesmerizing ritualistic performances, the music that was filling every space, will stay with us for days.

Dekmantel Selectors 2019

Dekmantel Selectors is an intimate festival, limited to a capacity of 2000, to keep the vibe pure throughout the whole week and this can be seen once you get to the bay from The Garden, next to the small fishing village of Tisno.

Morphosis – Dismantle [HJP072]

Dismantle represents Rabih Beaini’s first substantial release as Morphosis since last year’s Tepco Report 12″, and comes in the form of a five track double 12″ release. The first comprises two Morphosis productions obviously aimed at more adventurous DJs, with the title track (in collaboration with Donato Dozzy) comprising subtly rattling percussion and organic tones unfolding over a steady rhythmic pulse, while “Tamrat Version” comes across as more full bodied, with thicker organ textures tied up with pulsing synths. The second 12″ meanwhile is something entirely different, comprising a live score to Carl Theodor Dreyer’s Vampyr recorded in Romania; free of rhythm and utilising some outlandish modular sequencing, it’s the producer at his most immersive.

Rabih Beaini ‎– Albidaya [END07]

Exploratory Lebanese imprint Annihaya presents a stunning debut album opus by Rabih Beaini aka Morphosis under his birth name. As Rabih was born in Lebanon it is fitting he shares ‘Albidaya’ – meaning “The Beginning” in Arabic – with a label from his home country, who provide acute context for its mixture of electronics, psych rock, folk and jazz. Impressively it was mostly recorded over the course of one day in 2012, wrangling myriad rhythms, tones and shapes from Rabih’s famous collection of vintage analog synthesizers and sequencers meshed with Eko Tiger Duo organ and guitar, and some assistance from Tommaso Cappellato on drums and Piero Bittolo Bon on woodwind and electronics (with additional credits to both Mike Huckaby and Donato Dozzy), and post-production done in Berlin and Rome.
