Star Gazing is just as space-stradling as the title suggests, off-key, offworld discords colliding with breakbeats and detroitian atmospherics, intricate electronics, the burblings of a robot examining the earth of an alien world, before huge bass enters the party. Visions In My Mind is Legowelt’s take on the disco-tech vibe, Wayfaring Stranger completes the picture, a slamming acid jacker!

After two years of existence, New York’s L.I.E.S. Records has transformed itself from a bedroom label into one of the more interesting and diverse labels in the world of modern underground electronic music. Disc one, of this double cd compiles and documents some of the labels early moments showcasing out of print tracks by Legowelt, Terekke, Steve Moore, Two Dogs in a House, and Bookworms to name a few, showcasing the broad yet cohesive spectrum of styles the label has worked within. The second disc is comprised of almost all new and unreleased material from the labels current pool of talent, with tracks by the likes of newcomer Delroy Edwards, Mutant Beat Dance’s Beau Wanzer, cult figure Terekke, early label contributor Marcos Cabral and more. Through and through this compilation captures where the label has been and where it is going in the future.
Hot Island Records is a new label with Chicago influence. The first release is coming from Italian Nick Anthony Simoncino and is a compilation of 4 deep house cuts. The EP comes with a remix from Legowelt.

Steamy and mysterious as ever The Paranormal Soul is advancing the trademark Legowelt sound into new directions. Mangling up the historical foundations of New York, Detroit, Chicago and early U.K Rave, mixing it with seedy witchcraft rituals and deep space psychedelics for a boundless journey into techno mysticism.
New Trackman Lafonte & Bon Qui Qui aka Legowelt & Xosar. Raw analogue house music. When computer programmer and music enthusiast Lowrell “Trackman” LaFonte was relocated to a small suburb North of Santa Barbra California a chance encounter brought him to meet Bonquiqui Pardue. As he scoured his local break to find someone with a resin patch kit to fix a fresh ding in his favorite tri-fin fishtail, Bonquiqui, dental hygienist, and also an avid surfer just so happened to have a kit handy and a union was born. From this moment on Lafonte & Bonquiqui were inseparable, often hitting the clubs and immersing themselves in Latin Freestyle and obscure local house productions from the smog filled Valley. As it would have it, eventually the two moved in together and began working on their own music, using strictly Casio drum machines and keyboards. Inadvertently, Lafonte & Bonquiqui pioneered a sound now known by the masses as “Surfer House.” These three tracks stand as a testament to a time in California music history that can never be recreated, no matter how hard the posuers at the local break try.
Brian ‘Orgue Electronique’ Schijf and Danny ‘Legowelt’ Wolfers return with their project Chicago Shags on the ever-excellent MOS Recordings. The four track EP starts with ‘Ponderosa’; a forward looking, cosmic surfing house cut wired with plenty of smooth electronics and pure jacking energy, before ‘Pancake Breakfast’ glistens and glints just as much with its firefly synth lines, gurgling baseline and sweet, pixelated melodies. ‘Firetruck Sunday’ is more dense and edgy, never resting in one place for more than a single beat, with chattery drums and claps offset by a rounded, smoothed but acidy bassline. Finally, ‘To The Westfield’ surges and soars through more sci-fi universes as a house groove busies itself below.

Giallo Disco Records presents their first release Black Gloves EP. Between Berlin and Vienna, Giallo Disco Records is a new label dedicated to the sub-sub-genre of Horror Disco. Gianni Vercetti’s macabre soundtracks are presented with lashings of VHS grain. ‘L’Incubo Senza Fine’ is dripping with tension, a relentless kick drum thud like the march of the undead themselves. Legowelt’s remix only adds to this, calling on the sound of his most recent collection ‘The Teac Life’. Antoni Maiovvi’s Rituals Of Lust is a 98bpm dark EBM/New Beat-esque stomper. Retro-space age futurism, battleships preparing for war near the moons of Jupiter. Themroc(k)’s would perhaps be the perfect music for a malfunctioning T-800, demented vocals a-go-go. Dark brooding action soundtracks for a bleak tomorrow.
