Giallo Disco welcomes one of the absolute O.Gs of the 2nd wave of horror synth, the one and only Kansas City Warrior turned Mr Dr Hollywood himself… Umberto, who’s new EP ‘Outskirts Of Reno’ takes us deep into the seedy underbelly to tell the tale of a kidnapping. From the EBM dancefloor darkness of The Basement to the ascension-like arps of Repeat. Five brand new tracks from the master of mood destined to work it’s way into the record bags of discerning DJs across the globe… and into the nightmares of the weak…
The return of Unit Black Flight on Giallo Disco. Four newly mastered tracks plus an exclusive remix from LA’s night phantom Umberto. UBF’s signatures are all over this: Classic Carpenter Worship, H.O.T.T. Linn Action, analog nightmares. Security camera blues. Perfect for late night missions or dancefloor destruction. Pain peeling from old wood, as the stairs creak and your EVP recordings have disappeared. Walls are moving, doors are switching location, there’s a cold hand on yours. Welcome to our nightmare fiends… we’re gonna have a blast.
The first vinyl release by the cassette label Mmodemm, comes with a crackling electro by Lobster Theremin newcomer Privacy, a melodramatic dance tune by Robert Johnson resident Chinaski and skittering house by partner in crime DJ S aka DJ Slingshot. Completed by giallorific tones of Umberto and harsh compressor-experiments by Nick Klein.
Death Waltz Recording Company are proud to bring you an all-new aural experience via the latest installment of the Death Waltz Originals imprint. Law Unit is a brand new creation by maestros Umberto and Antoni Maiovvi, an original concept that in the composers’ own words ”moves past the retro-futurist works of their individual solo releases to explore a world of early industrial and experimental music”. The resulting album is made up of ten dangerously cool and evocative cuts, the kind of tracks that put you in the mood for LA circa 2019, or the Detroit of 1987.
After a year in the making Giallo Disco presents GDLP002 the previously unreleased soundtrack to fictitious writer/director Joel Hughes controversial 80s teen drama Wild In Blue. Featuring tracks from label heads Antoni Maiovvi and Vercetti Technicolor as well as the maestro Umberto, Canada’s Kindest Cuts, Italy’s Queen Of Coldwave Mushy, Germany’s Mirror Talk, the legendary HORD and Fever Dream. Halfway between The Breakfast Club and Gregg Araki, with influences ranging from Gothic Electro, HiNRG Synth Pop and Cosmic Melancholy, this Various Artist affair tugs the heartstrings and warps the mind.
After the night sea journey of Francesco Clemente-Heinrich Dressel’s split release Il Faro, MinimalRome returns with a concept album inspired by the silence and the noises of the plague. Heinrich Dressel, Umberto, Anton Maiof, Alessandro Parisi, and Vercetti Technicolor explore the solitude, terror, stillness and unsophisticated chaos of the epidemic in a 5 tracks LP.
Here is the third and final part of my 2013 review, featuring my favorite albums released last year. In the first part of the review, the preferences of hipodrome followers are shown, according to the number of click and stars. In the second part, I presented some of my favorite events and performances from last year.
Now here it comes the serious business. Because there are so many good albums and different genders, I took the same approach as in the 2012’s review.
The list is covering all the genders that I like and post on The Hipodrome Of Music, so I came up with no more than 20 gender lists, going from house to techno, disco and funk to electro and new wave …
Here we go.
