The second imprint of Another Earth is upon us and this time it’s all about proper Detroit techno combined with distorted left wing machine house. The label combines 2 acts together in a Split EP series which compliment each others sound. For the A-side Plural created 2 essential Detroit techno tracks. The A1 is a warm uplifting peak time bomb and the A2 has a darker vibe concentrated on the groove. The B-side hosts 2 tracks from the intriguing mind of Hakim Murphy. The B1 is a heavy distorted peak time house banger while the B2 is quite the opposite, deep and obscure.

This EP represents a further manifestation of sound-expression over sound-design. Each track has it’s own characteristics. It’s a symbiotic EP which combines vintage analogue gear with live digital effects; everything is done in a moment – manipulating things that you can’t calculate but feel.

When the duo Skudge started out in late 2009 with their first release on Alphahouse, followed by a string of underground hits on their own label Skudge Records, little did they know that they would be in the forefront of the Stockholm sound of the dawning 2010’s. The complex rhythm textures combined by a echoing audial lightness that still runs unparalleled, paired with sub intense quick basslines and swirling percussion has been the trademark. This updated take on the techno and house crossover of today got appreciated and caught the attention of a full spectrum of artists. With a tight release schedule, 2010 alone saw 6 releases from the Skudge hub. Culminating in 2011 with the release of ‘Phantom’, the full length album release on the home imprint, followed by the sub labels that releases other artists as well. Five years from that era, Skudge has reshaped into the solo work from one of the original artists. This change of production and artistry launches into the crates with the release of the limited full length ‘Balancing Point’ LP. During this time, the sound has shifted into new territory, where the entire A-side acts as the beginning of this grooving whirlpool of a record: quick and immense. The UK influences that was formed in the 90’s, gets picked up and infused through the B-side, ending off in a almost orchestral piece. The delicate subtleness of the second 12′ showcases a familiar coming-of-light type of style that we so much appreciate, firmly ending the long player and leave us sure of the future.

When the flowers bloom at the awakening of the season. With translucence shining like liquid stars decked out in glorious hues of pink, purple and blue. When the trees grow and the birds fly out. When they gently beat their wings, gliding upon the blue canvas of the sky. You get touched by the sounds and the beauty of it all. It lights that fire deep within you… Reedale Rise shows us the way of things,.. as it was then, and still is now.

‘Temporary Insanity Remixes’ is a 12” featuring the redefinitions of the two original productions of Detroit veteran Terrence Dixon, turned upside down by three of the most groundbreaking electronic music artists as Voiski, Pangaea and Cosmin TRG, appearing alongside label head Simone Gatto. OUT022 operates as a modern take of old school sounds, an hybrid union of all melodic techno sub forms – these remixes keep the mental locked groove material of Dixon’s tracks, adding emotionally irradiating patterns and each producer’s typical paths.

ENVLP sets its 2016 return with John Barera, the Brooklyn artist that steadly drove its sounds through space and stars with blissful sonorities and elegant productions. John delivers a four track EP that brings a personal interpretation of the Detroit sound elevated by John’s unique skills and strong personality. Starting with the celestial ‘Mission Mode’, we go through the masterful ‘Pattern Theory’ and the catching ‘I Can See For Miles’ until we reach the different notes of’Cloud Nine’: so many change of the directions that show the extreme versatility and talent of John Barera.

On the second part of his simultaneously released Something To Show You EP series, Nick Lapien moves further towards late night techno territory. This is evident from the very start, with opener “Searching” delivering the perfect blend of layered, undulating rhythms, spacey riffs, and hypnotic, early morning atmospherics. It’s there, too, on the cascading deep house synths and freshly baked grooves of “Moon”, and “Wild For The Night”, whose bold analogue bassline and yearning vocal samples propel the tracks forwards. Lapien heads for deeper territory on the flipside, with the sinewy pianos and locked-in rhythm of soul-flecked closer “It Ain’t The Same” providing the headline attraction.
