Mike Dehnert – Placide EP [FW029]

Mike Dehnert with a new 4 tracker, including a massive live version of Drehimpuls. The rest is slightly lighter with Eigenzeit as serious contender for winning the election of favorite tracks on this EP. A proper peak time techno monster. However b2 track Isolant is another one of Mike’s seductive grooving techno tracks in the known Dehnert style.

Mike Dehnert – Umgangston EP [95DSR]

https://imagescdn.juno.co.uk/300/CS471668-01A-MED.jpg

Fachwerk boss and dubby techno don Mike Dehnert steps away from his usual home for a new EP on Delsin entitled ‘Umgangston’. ‘Andruck’ swings back and forth on a squelchy synth hook as tin foil hi hats cut up long thin pads. Knocking bell sounds add plenty of silvery colours to the dubby bass below, and it’s one of the more serene and beautiful Dehnert cuts of recent times.  ‘Tracer’ is much sterner, with huge Basic Channel dub waves breaking beneath scratchy synths and acid bleeps. Fizzing and fine grain like warm white noise, it’s for those more intense dancefloor moments. ‘Refillable’ finds Mike in full on rave mode with filters twisting and turning and skewing synths into weird patterns as hi hat ringlets race between sandy claps and a tortured vocal yelps out every so often. Rushy and racy, it’s underpinned with a walloping kick drum where closer ‘Umgangston’ is about knife-edge intensity, cantering kick drums and wild, freeform synth lines.

Mike Dehnert – Fachwerk 25 [FW025LP01]

Mike Dehnert marks a quarter century of releases on his own label with Fachwerk 25, a full-length album comprised of 13 tracks. This new album sees Mike experimenting somewhat. Away from the dubbed out, functional and raw techno funk of his usual output, Fachwerk 25 shows some concession to the album format, with more mysterious tracks of ambient buried amongst bits of acid, rave and plenty of unhinged sound design. After the dystopian and scene-setting intro, there’s the chugging house and nagging synths of ‘Fraction’ that are both dark and beautiful at the same time. From there, there’s slowed, melancholic dub in the form of ‘Modulat” and the beat-less, underwater sounding ‘Courant’ with its icy pads and wide lateral spread. The title track is more what you’d expect of Dehnert, with well-swung kicks and grainy synth chords rolling along like basement techno should, before the squelchy industrial madness of ‘Grundform’ breaks the stride of the album once again, taking you off to a different place entirely. The second half is just as varied and unpredictable, ranging from raucous peak time stuff to more nuanced and cerebral fair that always manages to bares the hallmarks of Fachwerk: quality, invention and unpredictability.

VA – Fachwerk EP 2 [FW023]

Fachwerk Ep No.2 with the FW posse doing what they do best! Mike Dehnert, Roman Lindau and Sasha Rydell dropping some solid techno tracks with irresistible grooves in their signature production style. On this Ep 2 all tracks are working around cut up vocal samples and a slightly more minimal techno-ish vibe.

VA – Fachwerk EP [FW022]

All three excellent Fachwerk bosses step up here with a beautiful red vinyl release of their latest EP entitled, erm, Fachwerk on their own label. Roman Lindau goes first with some scraping, cavernous and loopy sounds before teaming up with Mike Dehnert for a beautifully bouncy acid number. Mike appears on his own for track three, a stomping peak time banger before Sascha Rydell gets some great height into his fat assed percussive groove, ‘It Happened’.

VA – Inertia #3 [INERTIA003]

https://imagescdn.juno.co.uk/300/CS437770-01A-MED.jpg

This third EP offers up four brand next and exclusive techno cuts, take straight from the Inertia compilation Ann Aimee have proudly compiled. Things open with the dark, skipping beats of Lucy, before Milton Bradley layers plenty of filter and reverb over a kicking beat for his textured effort, ‘Sequence 1’. Mike Dehnert, contributes some ravey techno loops in the form of ‘Pneumatic’ before the EP is brought to a close with some gray-scale bleakness from Ozka.

Reno Wurzbacher / Mike Dehnert – Miju EP [COLOMBAGE001]

Colombage is a new division of Fachwerk Records focusing on more house releated tracks. Reno Wurzbacher delivers a smooth warm track that feels like a warm breeze on a summer night. Friendly and nice! Flip side is done by Mike Dehnert himself with a typical track for him, techy chords, fierce percussion with nice rides and slowly building.

Mike Dehnert – Oblique [CBS008]

https://imagescdn.juno.co.uk/300/CS432496-01A-MED.jpg

Mike Dehnert follows up on his previous 2 Clone Basement releases, with a selection of 4 tracks, that shows another side of Mike. Four tracks that reveal the more challenging side with some forward thinking techno tracks. Slightly slower paced as some of his recent works, and with only 1 out of 4 tracks having a straight kick in the complete track, he is placing emphasis on the rolling machine groove and the flow coming from sounds and effects.
