In the second part, I presented some of my favorite events and performances from last year. For more details go here.

Clone’s label founder Serge with his buddy Alden Tyrell on the case with some hot jacking tracks. Like the rest of the Clone Jack For Daze series, House Countdown adheres slavishly to the ideals of Chicago. And while this may not be the most limitless arena for Clone founder Serge Verschuur’s return—apart from remixes, he’s been out of the production game for 15 years—the duo’s three jack tracks prove sound examples of refinement.

Arttu is back on Royal Oak after his critically acclaimed Nuclear Funk / Get Up Of It release late 2011. Another split single featuring two Detroit Jazz and Funk vocalists. The female poet Diamondancer on Tune In and the his buddy from Jerry The Cat on Move! Arttu smoothly blends his roots in the best house traditions with contemporary influences on these two tracks.

Insubordinate and averse to anything going on in the EDM world the dutch derelict of techno is back with a luminous new album on Clone Records. Steamy and mysterious as ever The Paranormal Soul is advancing the trademark Legowelt sound into new directions. Mangling up the historical foundations of New York, Detroit, Chicago and early U.K Rave, mixing it with seedy witchcraft rituals and deep space psychedelics for a boundless journey into techno mysticism.

Back to its roots with some deep and powerful Chicago house tracks. This time its Morning Factory on duty with a beautiful melodic and emotive two tracker. No secret that the Clone Jack For Daze series is inspired by the heritage of Chicago house music in all its forms. Morning Factory are taking us back in a time machine to the early days of Chicago labels such as Relief, Warehouse and Dance Mania whit releasesof guys like Tim Harper, G-Strings, Paul Johnson and Ron Trent. Back then young guys who were pushing bounderies with deep emotive house tracks containing a raw machine funk that was an essential part of house music in that period of the late 80’s and very early 90’s. The days that fragile melodies and layers of strings got combined with fierce energetic drum machine rhythms expressing the energy and moods of the young producers doing things never heard before with hardly any references other then some guys from around the block.

New Clone Basement Series (lucky number 013!) with the long awaited return of A Made Up Sound (aka 2562), following up on his Archive EP/CBS02. Written as a counterbalance to the more experimental releases on his own AMUS label series, Archive II finally unleashes what’s possibly his most banging, straight-forward club material to date, while retaining the trademark A Made Up Sound funk and swing. “Hang-Up” is all about the irresistible Herbie-injected groove, cut-up and layered to great effect, whereas things get darker and bass-heavier with technotrack “Sweetback” on the flip. Keeping the tension high till a drop towards the end, seven minutes never seemed so short.

After the Dexter and Erik Travis releases its funkateer mr Blount getting freaky on his 2nd release! Hailing from New Zealand Reggie Blount made his debut 1.5 year ago on Clone Crown ltd. His Hard Times debut ep sold out straight away and got loads of fine feedback from the heads out there. This second ep starts with more crazy funky vocal p-funk tracks Flip side starts with the incredible track ”Hey”. One of those tracks that is able to give you goose bumps and grow on you to become one of those ”our tunes” kinda tracks you share with that special person. Ep is finnishing of with the beautiful wave electro funk kinda thing called Racecar! As if Garry Numan is doing some p-funk.

Fierce peak time techno tracks from mr Tyrell on the lost catalogue number of the Clone Basement Series.

Marco Bernardi is back on Clone Royal Oak with a beautiful three track ep! Tracks that are a nice blend of his roots in Glasgow and Detroit techno stirred into a nice personal outing that show his talents. The Ep features slowly building tracks that keep the tension high with Bernardi’s trademark melodies layered over basic house rhythms with a raw edge.

Three new and raw box tracks by Paul du Lac, who seems to be pushing his minimalistic jackin’ sound palette even further. We have the fierce and autistic-tantristic dirtyness of ‘Tantra Master’, the Dance Mania flavoured funk of ‘Childs Play’, and the deep strings of the bassline-driven ‘Spaces Below’, a classic Chicago-inspired piece of work that seems to come from deep within.

Elitechnique is back with Intrusion, a 8 track ep. The pair (Remco de Jong aka Phako and Florentijn Boddendijk) find an ongoing source of inspiration in disco and electronic obscurities as we’ve learned from their previous releases (which have been played and charted by all the big names in modern disco), but combine this with their fascination for the great 60’s and 70’s soundtracks! The result is a timeless imaginary sound track that adds sex and intrigue to their music and unleashed from the chains of dancefloor productions. On this Intrusion album they take freedom to play around with atmosphere intensity and tension without only focussing about a dancefloor. Both being skilled producers and musicians the result is an album extraordinaire with all instruments and music played, recorded and arranged by themselfs over a period of more then a year!

Tom Noble with a reprise 12” of his great Dancing Hard track taken from the Liger Vision debut ep. Mr. Noble is recognized as one of the worlds top diggers when it comes to disco and rare funk. He got some help from his British equivalent Mr Al Kent from Million Dollar Disco fame, who got some help from his buddies Ray Harris on keys and Kev McShane on guitar to craft this awesome remix, or actual new recorded version of Dancing Hard!

Alden Tyrell hooked up with Mike Dunn for some new work!. Tyrell always jamming and playing around with his synths had some tracks inspired by early Mike Dunn songs. So the obvious happened… the hooked up for some appropiate vocals and here it is….”Touch The Sky”! A peak time acid monster with Mike’s vocal chant in the style of his classic MD3 projects. Gerd is on remix duty here and delivers a killer remix with a more traditional Chicago groove and build up. Clone head honcho Serge had some studio time with Tyrell for a dub mix. The Serge & Tyrell dub mix turned out a bit wild and became a classic piece of piano and dx bass driven Chicago house music with stuttering vocal samples and a acidic synth line.
