Vosnos third release features Simone Gatto along with a remix from the dutch artist Orlando Voorn. On his Moss EP he opens up with The way of life a realy nice off beat dub techno track, which with its subtleness, brings a punch to any techno set be it a starter, mid session or end track. Moss gives you an opportunity to explore minimal house at its best. Simone invited Orlando Voorn to interpret The way of life and good on him for doing so! Orlando stays true to the original, which we praise here at Vosnos, and brings it that anthem feel without getting to obvious.

As a DJ and promoter Rick Wilhite has been holding it down for over twenty years. His ‘Vibes New & Rare music’ record store has been a main source for soulful electronic music in Detroit until its closure a few years back. The ‘Vibes New & Rare music’ compilation only features material that Rick Wilhite truly believes to represent the artists. After releasing Volume 1 in 2010, Wilhite now delivers the sequel, featuring pioneers and new talents alike from New York, Chicago and Detroit.

Here is the third and final part of my 2013 review, featuring my favorite albums released last year. In the first part of the review, the preferences of hipodrome followers are shown, according to the number of click and stars. In the second part, I presented some of my favorite events and performances from last year.

Now here it comes the serious business. Because there are so many good albums and different genders, I took the same approach as in the 2012’s review.
The list is covering all the genders that I like and post on The Hipodrome Of Music, so I came up with no more than 20 gender lists, going from house to techno, disco and funk to electro and new wave …
Here we go.

Now a fully-fledged music label with over 30 releases to its name, EPM counts albums from Paul Mac, Carl Taylor, Kristian Heikkila, Lee J. Malcolm, Luis Martinez and The Third Man to its ever-expanding roster. ‘EPM Selected Vol 2’ is the second label snapshot, focussing on the techno side of the label’s output so far (with a couple of rare exclusives* thrown in for good measure).

Vital Force is proud to present the new album from the legendary producer Orlando Voorn. A hip hop fan since the 80’s, Orlando used his unique scratching skills to win the Dutch DMC DJ championship in 1986. It was clear he always had a true love for all things Hip-Hop. Orlando has also traveled the globe as a Techno DJ during which time he regularly hooked up with many talented MC’s. Voorn began to compile the music created in these sessions which started way back in 2000. The various collaborations resulted in the album La Cliqa. The album represents the best in fluid, clever lyricism and a production style which sounds fresh and contemporary while giving an unashamed nod to the hip-hop golden age of the early noughties. In his career which began almost three decades ago, Voorn has used many different aliases and produced an abundant amount of styles of music but it’s his Detroit Techno/House productions that have gained him the admiration of the electronic music scene. With the release of ‘La Cliqa’ Orlando hopes to introduce his sound to a whole new audience.

Orlando Voorns Flight EP features four tracks of pure electronic funk. The Flight 313 track was already released by Orlando on his own label but only digital. Due to high demand we’ve put it on limited black gold for all you fans out there! It comes with a special beatless version as well. As if that ain’t enough Flight EP also features Cheater. A bold house track with that special Voorn funkyness in it which will move everybody on every dancefloor. Last but not least is Strings. With its beautiful strings and continuous drive this is a track you will play to the last minute over and over again. All in all, a highly recommended release which deserves a special place in every recordcase.

The prolific run of Ben Sims and his Theory imprint shows no sign of stopping, this time it’s a tough but DJ friendly 3 tracker featuring remixes from 2 of Holland’s finest.
